CONTRACT

SEEKING

The lead role of
HENRI MATISSE: 70’s. The legendary artist, frail, recovering from surgery, is restored to health and hope by his young nurse. When she becomes a nun, he decides to honor her, and, against opposition, creates the chapel he describes as his “masterpiece.

All other roles have been CAST.

PREPARATION

Sides will be provided at the EPA, including a largely nonverbal scene emphasizing the
physicality of the character. Please bring a picture and resume.

Playwright Jesse Kornbluth, PSM Pamela Edington, Director Bram Lewis and two readers.

OTHER DATES

The production will rehearse for 2 weeks at Shetler Studios in New York and then move to its Theater in Croton Falls, Westchester.

Rehearsals will begin Weds 3/13. Opening is Thursday, 4/4.
The contract calls for 4 performances per week Thurs-Sun.
Final performance is Sunday, 4/28.

OTHER

Pursuant to the terms of a concession made to this employer's agreement,
the employer has agreed that any Equity member who attends this call will

Lydia Delectorskaya: Blond, 40’s, Russian, tough-his assistant in all things...

Monique Bourgeois- His night nurse. Early twenties, from the country, not sophisticated, but savvy and quick with an independent streak.

Pablo Picasso-the Great man. Matisse’s contemporary, friend,
(and rival).
(Role is cast)

Louis Rayssiguier- A novice priest with some background in Architecture. Nervous.

Mother Superior-Head of the local convent in Vence. Like Mother Therese, a woman of absolute devotion...and an indomitable will.
