BREAKDOWN

LA CAGE AUX FOLLES

First Rehearsal October 9th, 2018; Performances November 1- 25, 2018 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 8pm, Saturday/Sunday at 3pm)

GEORGE– 40s-60s, Baritone, a charismatic and kind man married to Albin, owner of the nightclub.

ALBIN– 40s-60s, Bari-Tenor, becomes the fabulous Zsa Zsa onstage at the nightclub La Cage aux Folles. Fabulous drag performer with heart and a grand theatricality.

JEAN MICHEAL– Early 20s, Tenor, George’s son. Funny and headstrong, but slightly uncomfortable with George and Albin’s life.

ANN– (CAST) Early 20s, Soprano, Jean Michael’s lady love. Must sing and dance well. Lovely and innocent.

MR. DINDON/ MR. RENAUD– 40s-60s, Baritone, Ann’s uptight conservative father. Mr. Renaud is the kindly owner of the seaside cafe.

MRS. DINDON/ MRS. RENAUD- (CAST) 40s-60s, Ann’s mother. Starts out uptight and conservative, but softens and changes dramatically by the end of the show. Mrs. Renaud is the kindly owner of the seaside cafe.

JACOB– (CAST) 20s-40s, African-American or Latino, UNDERSTUDY ONLY, this Role has been cast. Sometimes the butler, sometimes the maid, a great comedian.

JACQUELINE– (CAST) 30s-50s, Alto/Belter, The proprietress of a local restaurant, sings a great deal of “The Best of Times is Now.” Gregarious personality and large presence.

FRANCIS - (CAST) 30s-50s, Fussy stage manager of La Cage nightclub. Great comic actor.

CAGELLES- (CAST) 9 Males or Transgender Females to play Female Impersonators. 3 excellent singer/comedians and 6 excellent singer/dancers. Please prepare a song that can be acted as a female.

MAMMA MIA
First Rehearsal November 13th, 2018; Performances December 6-30, 2018 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 8pm, Saturday/Sunday at 3pm)

DONNA- late 30s-early 40s, Mezzo, the mother of a 20 year old girl) Attractive and free-spirited. A former lead singer in a group called “Donna and the Dynamos” who now owns and runs a hotel/casino on a Greek island. A strong feminist who also has a zany and vulnerable side.

SOPHIE- (CAST) 18-25, Pop Soprano, A very special young woman who is determined to find the romance and happiness she feels eluded her mother. Has a wild, zany spirit even though she pursues a conventional marriage.

TANYA- late 30s-early 40s, A former singer in the “Dynamos”. Rich, sophisticated, acerbic, funny, and witty.

ROSIE- late 30s-early 40s, Also a former singer in the “Dynamos” who now writes for and runs a feminist press. She’s confident, strong, and funny on the outside but shy underneath. Kooky and fun, good comic actress, bit of a clown. Actress who sings.

LISA- (CAST)18-25, Sophie’s friend who arrives to be a bridesmaid. Very energetic and kooky. Should be African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, Native American or any non-Caucasian young woman. Should sing and dance well.

ALI- (CAST)18-25, Sophie’s friend. Impulsive and fun. Should contrast to Lisa and Sophie.

SAM- (CAST) 35-45, Baritone, May be Sophie’s father. Left Donna 20 years ago because he was engaged to another woman. Charming, successful architect. Actor who sings.

HARRY- (CAST) 35-45, Bari-tenor, May be Sophie’s father. British financier, wealthy, buttoned-up, and conservative but trying to reconnect with his freer, youthful self. Must do a very convincing English accent. Also an actor who sings.

BILL- (CAST) 35-45, May be Sophie’s father. A travel writer with no possessions or strings. Good- natured, always ready for adventure. Funny, preferably a big or imposing man.

SKY- late 20s, Sophie’s fiance. Athletic, attractive – has given up his life as a successful young businessman in order to make over Donna’s taverna and marry Sophie.

PEPPER- (CAST) 20s, Bari-Tenor, Sky’s friend. Helps run the hotel. Charming, loves women, always flirting. Must be a good mover/dancer. Acrobatic skills a plus.

EDDIE- (CAST) 20s, Bari-Tenor, Another friend of Sky and hotel worker. Laid-back, easygoing. Also a mover/dancer role.

ENSEMBLE-(CAST) Villagers, and Sky and Sophie’s friends. Great Singers and young people should dance or move very well.

PIPPIN
First Rehearsal February 26, 2018; Performances March 21- April 14, 2019 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 8pm, Saturday/Sunday at 3pm)

*This production will be cast with 11 actors.

PIPPIN- 18-26, tenor, The son of Charlemagne and heir to the throne of the Holy Roman Empire, on a quest for the meaning of his life. Powerhouse performer with excellent vocal and acting chops and movement skills.

LEADING PLAYER- (CAST) male or female, UNDERSTUDY ONLY, this role has been cast-
Dangerous, charismatic, extremely charming and seductive, the Leading Player is the leader of the troupe and the mastermind behind Pippin's journey. The Leading Player must be an incredibly strong performer with the willingness to take risks and dig deep and dark; a powerful presence.

CHARLEMAGNE/ BERTHE-male or female, late 40s-early 60s, Pippin’s father and the King of the Holy Roman Empire and Pippin’s grandmother. Comic actor with versatile vocal chops.

FASTRADA/ENSEMBLE- 30s-40s, Pippin’s stepmother, Charlemagne’s wife, and Lewis’s mother. A manipulative woman with sexual appeal and a strong desire for power, Fastrada aims to get her son Lewis to be first in line to the throne. Dancer.

LEWIS/ ENSEMBLE-(CAST) male or female, early 20s-early 30s, The son of Charlemagne and Fastrada, Pippin’s half brother. He is a soldier in Charlemagne's army and he prides himself on his athleticism and physical prowess. Arrogant and self centered, dancer.

CATHERINE/ ENSEMBLE-(CAST), this role has been cast- late 20s-early 30s, mezzo with strong mix or belt. Pippin’s love interest, a tragically widowed farmer’s wife with a young son. She rebels against the Leading Player's scheme by actually falling in love with Pippin. She is kind, generous, romantic, and strong-willed.

THEO- (CAST) to play 8-14 years old. Catherine’s rebellious son who soon develops a loving relationship with Pippin. Singing is required.

THE PLAYERS- (CAST) 4 excellent dancer-singers with sensuality and versatility.

HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH
First Rehearsal May 28, 2018; Performances June 6-23, 2018 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 8pm, Sundays at 3pm)

HEDWIG- 20s-40s, male or transgender female, Rock Tenor, “internationally ignored” Transgender German rocker giving the concert of her life, an incredible performer with undeniable presence, humor, and acting chops.

YITZAK- 20s-40s, female or transgender male, Belter, Hedwig’s husband and reluctant sidekick. Bitter and angry, but has his moment in the spotlight and blows the audience away.
