BREAKDOWN

NICK:
(Age 30-45) is a hard-working gumshoe detective responsible for keeping the investigation at Shear Madness on track. A personable character actor who can also be an excellent comic straightman. Must be an actor not intimidated by a boisterous audience. Requires a nice looking, masculine actor with a solid voice and solid acting skills who can learn the dynamics that will keep the play moving forward. Although he sometimes plays dumb, this actor must be very bright.

TONY
(Age 25-40) is the likable, flamboyant, irrepressible proprietor of the Shear Madness salon. He is fun, devilish, and interested in everything and everyone, but never jaded in any way. His shoot from the hip comedy must endear him to all. Should be good at physical comedy and love playing to an audience. Enjoys sharing gossip, swapping recipes and dramatizing moments of his life. He is rapid-fire fun.

BARBARA DEMARCO
(Age 35-55) is the wisecracking, gum-snapping, nail-polishing hairdresser cum manicurist. She keeps Shear Madness running, answering phones, taking appointments and restocking shelves. She's well put together, though on the cheap side and with a push-up bra. She is likable, ambitious and streetwise and can spot a bad dye job from 20 paces.

EDDIE LAWRENCE
(Age 35-55) is a well dressed nice-looking confidence man who covers a dangerous interior with a smooth, suave, and occasionally charming exterior. Often the villan of the piece he must have a great sense of comedy as well.

MRS. SHUBERT
(Age 55-80) is an old-money Park Avenue socialite of impeccable breeding and manner. She can really turn on the charm when she needs to and at her finest is a real class act. Good looker and good mover. Must have her hair cut to specifications and then washed and blown out at every performance,

MIKEY THOMAS:
(Age 23-30) An eager-beaver high energy preppy/geek who is a capable, earnest, younger partner to Nick. Fresh out of a local junior college studying criminology he is a likeable go getter. Has his hair washed and blown dry every performance.
