BREAKDOWN

Eliza Doolittle (20 - 35) Cockney flower girl from Lison Grove working outside Covent Garden. High spirited, gutsy and proud. Very strong actress as well as singer. Excellent legit Soprano. Comfortable with cockney dialect and proper British accent.

Henry Higgins (30 - 50) British, upper class professional bachelor and world class phonetics expert, teacher and author. Conceited, refined and out of touch with his feelings. Very strong actor comfortable with British dialect. Baritone.

Alfred P. Doolittle (40 - 60) Comic character man. Eliza’s father who is fun loving, wise cracking and proud. He is quite a drinker and loves the ladies. Strong actor who sings and moves very well. Baritone

Colonel Hugh Pickering (40 - 60) Retired British officer with colonial experience. Amiable linguist and friend of Higgins who is a real gentleman. Strong character actor comfortable with British dialect. Baritone

Freddy Eynsford Hill (20-30) Spineless upper class young man who becomes completely smitten with Eliza. Comfortable with British dialect. Excellent legit Tenor.

Mrs. Higgins (50+) Professor Higgins’s mother. She is self-assured, wealthy, classy and elegant. She loves her son but also recognizes that he needs someone to put him down a bit. Comfortable with British dialect. Non- Singing role.

Mrs. Pearce (40 - 60) Professor Higgins’s housekeeper. She is proper, no-nonsense yet motherly. She has affection for Eliza. Comfortable with British dialect. Mezzo-soprano.

Harry (25 - 50) Drinking companion of Doolittle. Comfortable with cockney dialect. Baritone

Jamie (25 - 50) Drinking companion of Doolittle. Comfortable with cockney dialect. Tenor
