Santa Claus - has a lot on his plate during the Christmas season & it is starting to show. Annoyed with the elves, tired of lying to Buddy & sad that people seem to be losing their Christmas spirit. He is stil the same jolly old St. Nick underneath it all, but the job is getting to him. This is a great role for a character performer who can play an older (& somewhat cranky) man while trying hard to keep his holiday spirit. Must move well. Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: Bb3

Buddy - is the perfect elf! He's good-natured, means well & happy all the time, but he is not an elf, he's an adult human. Role is for a young man, excellent actor & good singer with energetic earnestness & comedic timing. Buddy is preferably taller than the other elves. Must have strong movement skills & be able to rollerblade. Tap dancing a plus. Vocal range top: G5 Vocal range bottom: B3

Walter Hobbs - Buddy's real father, focused on keeping his job and is not making time for his family. Stern & unemotional at times, but learns to recommit to family. Need great actor with strong, authoritative presence, but should also show softer side. Strong mover and tap skills a plus. Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom B3

Deb - Walter's secretary, keeps her boss & the whole office happy. Positive attitude with everyone. Need solid actress with pleasant demeanor, yet efficient work ethic. Strong character singer with an excellent belt. Must move well

Emily Hobbs - Walter's devoted wife who would prefer her husband to spend more time at home. Problem solver and an excellent mother who does all she can to provide a positive family dynamic. Need excellent actress & singer who effertlessly conveys a sense of maturity & warmth. Must have a strong belt up to a C. Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: G3

Michael Hobbs - smarter than average 12 year old son of Walter & Emily. Does all he can to make sure Buddy becomes a permanent part of the family. Looking for a solid young actor & singer with an unchanged voice up to an E. Must move well, tap dance skills a bonus. Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: G3

Jovie - Works as a Macy's store elf, but doesn't exude the Christmas spirit. Cynical, a bit touch around the edges & now the target of Buddy's complete adoration. Must have an amazing singing voice with a strong belt up to a D flat and great acting chops. Must have strong movement skills & be able to rollerblade. Tap dancing a plus. Vocal range top: Db5 Vocal range bottom: G3

Mr. Greenway - One of the crankiest businessmen around. He is the big boss with a commanding presence to tackle this acting role.

Ensemble - includes: elves, New Yorkers, comforting New Yorkers, Macy's empoyees, office staff, children & parents. The elves are Santa's special helpers who love their job making toys to meet their Christmas Eve deadline. Looking for strong technical dancer/singers & singer/danceers . Must also tap.
