Franz Liebkind: Baritone F2 to G4 The wild-eyed pigeon-loving playwright of “Springtime for Hitler”; Deranged; he actually believes that his play will show the world that Hitler was a hero. Must move well. OFFER PENDING ON THIS ROLE

Roger Debris:Baritone GG2 to G4, Late 30’s-50’s, GREAT COMIC TIMING. Sort of a cross between Liberace and Za Za from LA CAGE. Outlandish, larger than life; Elegant, Flamboyant, Grandiose; The unsuccessful Director/Choreographer (former Broadway chorus dancer) who is the director that Max sets his sights on; Physically, probably taller; Comic, unabashed, and bold. Dances/moves well.

Carmen Ghia: High Baritone/Tenor, C3 to C5 with falsetto up to G5, Late 20’s-early 40’s,The wildly flamboyant gay assistant to Roger DeBris: Stereotypically musical theatre queen without being offensive. Really good with physical comedy; bold.

Ulla: Belt A3 to Eb5 with strong head voice up to G5, 20’s-30’s, Gorgeous, sexy, the TALLER the better (at least 5’7”), Long-legged, Voluptuous Swedish secretarial assistant to Bialystock and Bloom. Character Sex-Kitten type: The quintessential knock-out. MUST HAVE COMIC ABILITY; ability to dance/move well. Must be able to fake a Swedish accent.

Ensemble: All Ranges,7 men & 9 women. Also seeking a strong, comic ensemble made up of “chameleons” with acting abilities to play a variety of roles throughout, accents a plus, should move and sing very well. Roles will comprise of Little Old Ladies, Usherettes, Accountants, Showgirls, Roger’s ‘Artistic’ Team, Stormtroopers, Tenor soloist, cops, convicts, judges, etc…Showgirls should ideally be 5’6” or taller. Miss Honey: Soprano,F3 to BH4 with solid belt to D5, 25-35,A mild, quiet person who never raises her voice and seldom seems to smile - yet possesses the rare gift of being adored by every small child under her care. She should have a curious warmth that is almost tangible. Physicality: Slim and fragile that if she fell over she would smash into a thousand pieces like a porcelain figure. Vocal: Lyrical pure sounding voice. Could even have a slight folksy quality. Dance: Some dance movement required

Mr. Wormwood: D3 to A4, 35-early 40’s A dealer in second-hand cars - a mean crooked crook - Scheming yet dense, with a penchant for wearing loud jackets with large, brightly colored checks. Comedic actor with strong physical movement skills. Physicality: Weasel or ratty essence. Needs to be agile. Dialect: Essex/Estuary/East London Dance: Strong physical actor

Mrs. Wormwood: Belt, A3 to F5 with higher ad-libs, 30’s. Mother of Michael and Matilda, and the wife of Mr Wormwood. She is obsessed with her amateur ballroom dancing partner and her looks. Like her husband she thinks very little of Matilda’s unique abilities and often berates her. She is as loud in her makeup and dress sense as she is in her voice – must have strong comedy. Physicality: Above 5’7” preferred. Vocal: Really strong belt voice with matching vocal stamina. Dialect: Essex/Estuary/East London Dance: Strong understanding of dance/movement

Michael Wormwood: 20’s, Must be able to fully participate in all ensemble vocal and dance numbers and also to play the Wormwood’s monosyllabic son. Needs good deadpan comedy and the ability to find a character during a lot of stage time with few words. Physicality: 5’2 to 5’7”. Teenage looking. Vocal: Accomplished singer Dialect: Essex/Estuary/East London Dance: Physically fit and strong mover Doubling: ensemble member

Mrs. Phelps: 30’s-50’s, Kind, warm and nurturing local librarian who encourages Matilda’s love of reading. She has an inner peace. Physicality: Above 5’7” preferred, open to all types and sizes. Vocal: Accomplished singer. Dialect: Possibly Jamaican or Caribbean Dance: Basic movement skills.

Ensemble: All ranges, To play 20’s-30’s, 6 men and 3 women (inclusive of doubling roles listed above) to play various roles, including RUDOLPHO, SERGEI,ACROBAT, ESCAPOLOGIST,DOCTOR, OLDER KIDS, PARENTS, SALSA DANCERS, HENCHMEN, MECHANIC, COOK, etc. Must sing. Some ensemble roles require strong, athletic movers with a great sense of rhythm.

Maria : Legit soprano, BH3 to C6, to play early 20’s.The beautiful, younger sister of Bernardo who has recently arrived from Puerto Rico. She is excited and enthusiastic, yet obedient.

Tony: Tenor BH2 to BH4, to play early 20’s. The best friend of Riff and former Jet leader who has turned to an honest life. He is good-looking, self assured, and passionate.

Anita: Mezzo F3 to D5, to play early 20’s. Bernardo's intelligent, flashy and very sexy girlfriend.

Riff: Tenor to F [BH2 to G4], to play early 20’s. The intelligent yet intense current leader of the Jets.

Bernardo: Baritone to E [BH2 to EH4],to play early 20’s. Maria's older brother who is the leader of the Sharks. On the surface, he is a seemingly cool character… but inside, he is filled with passion and anger.

Anybodys: tp lay early 20's, A tomboy who desperately wants to be a Jet.

Action: Baritone C4 to F5, to play early 20’s. A Jet. The angriest member who acts first and thinks later.

A-rab: Baritone F4 to F5, to play early 20’s. A Jet.

Baby John: Baritone F4 to F5, to play early 20's, . A Jet. The youngest member and very impressionable.

Diesel: Baritone E4 to F5, to play early 20’s. The Jet who is very physically imposing.

The Jets: Snowboy, Big Deal, Gee-Tar: vocally open, to play early 20’s. The American gang made up mostly of teenage dropouts from abusive homes.

Graziella: to play early 20’s. Riff's girl.

Velma: to play early 20’s. Action's girlfriend.

Jet Girls: Minnie, Clarice, vocally open, to play early 20’s. Various girlfriends of the Jets.

Chino: vocally open, to play early 20’s. Maria's quiet, intense, and angry suitor that she eventually rejects for Tony.

The Sharks: Pepe, Indio, Luis, Anxious, Nibbles

open to play early 20’s. The Puerto Rican gang filled with members who are bitter from the difficulties of the assimilation process.

Rosalia: Mezzo A3 to D5. to play early 20’s A Shark girl who misses Puerto Rico.

Consuelo: Mezzo C4 to F5 to play early 20’s. A Shark who wants to be American (changes hair color frequently).

Shark Girls: Teresita, Francisca, Estela: 20-30 to play early 20’s, Various girlfriends of the Sharks.

Detective Schrank: 40-60, A ruthless, sarcastic plain clothes detective.

Officer Krupke: 26-45, A large, goon-like police officer who is the butt of the Jets’ jokes.

VICTOR/VICTORIA

John Vaughan - Director/Choreographer

Victoria Grant: Female, 30-49, A proper British soprano, who has become stranded in Paris through a series of very unfortunate events. Ultimately she becomes the toast of Paris as a female impersonator. Throughout the play she learns to embrace her power as a woman while discovering true love, both perhaps, for the first time; legit mezzo-soprano/alto belt; British Accent, strong mover/dancer.

Carroll Toddy Todd: Male, 40-59, Naturally charismatic and a flamboyant performer. He has been the nightly entertainment at Chez Lui forever and lives a life of gaiety and nonchalance. He hatches the idea of disguising Victoria as Victor and they both find it does not take them where they expected; baritone.

King Marchan: Male, 40-55, A powerful businessman and possible gangster from Chicago who seems to have both power and money. He is sexy, charming, handsome and moves through life with ease and confidence; baritone.

Squash Bernstein: Male, 25-45, The right-hand-man, bodyguard, professional muscle-for-hire for a Chicago business man King Marchan. He is as tough as they come but smarter than he looks; tenor

Henri Labisse: Male, 40-60, The proprietor of Chez Lui, a nightclub of questionable repute that definitely operates on the shady side of Paris; bass; French accent expected.

Andre Cassell: Male, 30-50, The owner and manager of Cassell’s, a very prestigious nightclub in Paris. He presents Victor to the world; bass, French accent expected.

Male Ensemble: Male, 25-40, All vocal ranges. Sexy, strong triple threats to play various specialties (Sal Andretti/Richard Di Nardo) throughout the show and be featured dancers and singers in the various nightclubs. Strong jazz, tap and ballet skills required.

Female Ensemble: Female, 25-35, All vocal ranges. Sexy, strong triple threats to play various specialties throughout the show and be featured dancers and singers in the various nightclubs. Strong jazz, tap and ballet skills required.
