BREAKDOWN

CHARLEY/OTHERS:
Mid 20s - 30s, any ethnicity. A writer. Charley has powerfully strong principles—especially around the creation of art—and he demands that those he loves live up to them. Uncompromising. Loyal. Passionate about ideas. A witty pain in the ass who makes you better for knowing him. Charley is an extrovert among his friends, but becomes neurotic and anxious in public. This actor will play multiple ensemble characters, should be a good mover, collaborator, and be a versatile comedic actor in addition to having Charley’s passionate fire. Tenor quality. Not a pop sound.

BETH/KT/MEG/OTHERS:
Mid 20s - 30s, any ethnicity. This demanding track requires great versatility. From playing Meg’s avid if slightly dippy Hollywood starlet, to Beth’s gut-wrenched and loving wife and mother, to KT’s comedically self-interested TV host, this track covers a lot of theatrical territory. We meet Beth struggling to survive great personal trauma but also experience her strength, humor and optimism. This actor should be a good mover, strong with text, deft with characterization, and be a passionate, playful and joyful collaborator. Vocally flexible from dramatic belt to easy head voice. Not a pop sound.
