Ethnically and racially diverse actors with a strong ability to handle classical text. Non-binary actors strongly encouraged. Strong folk singers needed for three witches.

BREAKDOWN
This particular production seeks to highlight specific elements of the systemic and hierarchical power structures that we live within.
As such, all characters, unless specifically noted, are People of Color (POC)
Track 1 (male-identifying)
Macbeth: 30s-40s, martial, physical, ambitious, proud, entitled, lacking greatness and the lack is deeply felt. Thane of Fife, later Thane of Cawdor, later King of Scotland. White. (CAST)
Track 2 (female-identifying)
Lady Macbeth: 30s-40s, charming, resourceful, fierce, private, equal in ambition and entitlement to her husband. Equal in all ways to her husband, in fact. Nursing a deep seated fire within. WHITE.
Track 3 (male-identifying)
Macduff: 30s, “walks softly, but carries a big stick” as it were. A father figure. Actor should have weight and be in command of their bodies in all spaces. Stage combat a HUGE plus. POC
Track 4 (female-identifying or non-binary)
First Witch, Malcom, as cast: 20s. First Witch - practical, steadfast. Spooky, but like the Fox Sisters, not American Horror Story. SHOULD BE A STRONG SINGER, folk style. Malcolm - eager, trepidatious, courageous. A princeling. POC
Track 5 (female-identifying or non-binary)
Second Witch, Lennox, Fleance, Young Siward, as cast: late teen, early 20s. Our youngest seeming cast member. Second Witch - earnest, eager, but also practical. Another Fox Sister. SHOULD BE A STRONG SINGER, folk style. Lennox, Fleance, Young Siward - physically dynamic, energetic, gritty. Stage combat
a HUGE plus. POC
Track 6 (female-identifying or non-binary)
Third Witch, Donalbain, Doctor, as cast: 20s. Third Witch - practical, but playful. Perhaps the most mystical of our false mystic trio. SHOULD BE A STRONG SINGER, folk style. Doctor - a midwife/ herbalist. Donalbain - upright, energetic. POC
Track 7 (male-identifying)
Banquo, Old Siward, as cast: 30-50s. Banquo - jovial, loyal, open. Ambitious but moral. Old Siward - martial, upstanding, stoic but not cold. POC
Track 8 (female-identifying)
Lady Macduff, Hecate, as cast: 20s-30s. Lady Macduff - light, witty to point of being biting, both soft and sharp, pregnant. Hecate - stern, hypnotic, commanding. Strong command of physicality is a must for both roles. POC
Track 9 (male-identifying)
Duncan, Porter, Murderer, as cast: 40s-50s. Duncan - regal, grounded, affable. The platonic ideal of a kindly old king. Porter - cheeky, an older fellow with a twinkle in the eye and a bounce still in the step. A strong comedian and character actor. Stage combat and/or clowning skills a HUGE plus. POC
Track 10 (male-identifying)
Captain, Murderer, as cast: 20s-40s. A consummate soldier and mercenary, a ready character actor. Stage combat, dance experience, and/or experience with physical theater is a HUGE plus. POC
