BREAKDOWN

Life Sucks.

Vanya- 45. A ruminator. A kvetch, A smart, sweet, passionate, insightful, wound tight, failure.

Sonia- 25. Kind, Caring and quirky. Serious self-esteem issues. Not comfortable in her body.

Ella- 36. Searching, frustrated, hopeful and sad. Very attractive and rampantly desirable.

Babs- 64. Vibrant, artistic, outspoken and even enlightened. A great soul and scrappy wit.

The Professor- 62. Big mind, big ego, big vocabulary, small-ish soul. Selfish. Well-meaning.

Dr. Aster- 52. Broken, beautiful, dissatisfied, savvy and sad. He cares deeply and oddly.

Pickles- 40ish. An odd, sweet, loyal duck. Very literal. A relentlessly positive utopian lesbian.

Holmes and Watson

Watson - Terribly earnest; a bit too sure of himself and yet not certain enough. There is a dither just around the corner but now three years after Holmes’ supposed death he has come into his own.

Dr. Evans- No nonsense keeper of the asylum who must solve the secret of Holmes identity. He has an air of knowing everything.

Orderly/Moriarty/Inspector- The orderly is always present and always helpful without appearing to know anything about the proceedings. Nonetheless, little misses his subtle gaze. He plays two doubled smaller sinister cameos.

Matron/The Woman- The Matron is durable and made for work. She is neither good natured nor ill humored. She doubles with the slightly neurotic role of the Woman

Holmes 1/The Client - A classic Sherlock Holmes, urbane and sophisticated.

Holmes 2- Another classic Holmes but there is something Christ like about him. He seems to be quite mad and he frequently appears in a straitjacket.

Holmes 3/Signor Fonseca- An emaciated version of the other two. His head is shaved clean. He purports to be deaf as well as unable to communicate. His eyes are frequently glazed over and he appears not to be aware of his surroundings.
