Director: TBA 1st rehearsal: Nov. 1 Run: Nov. 22 – Dec 22

When three brave souls are left to act out all parts of a British Music Hall Christmas Carol somewhat loosely based on Charles Dickins’ “A Christmas Carol,” hilarity ensues as the actors madly dash onstage and off, frantically changing costumes and wigs, and improvising dozens of parts they don’t normally play. Marie and Rosetta
by George Brant
Director: Eric Davis. 1st rehearsal: Jan 3 Run at the Hippodrome: Feb 28 – Mar 22

Referred to by some as the “godmother of rock’n’roll”, sister Rosetta Tharpe was a legend in her time and a huge influence on Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, and Ray Charles. Celebrated for her fierce guitar playing and swinging gospel music, their compelling life stories combined with roof raising, heart-rending gospel songs set the stage for an inspiring evening at the theater.

Rosetta Tharpe (early 30’s) African American woman. Pretty, vivacious, an irrepressible spirit. A mean guitar player with a bluesey voice. Plays spirituals that swing.

Marie Knight (early 20s) African American woman. A more traditional alto gospel singer, plays piano. Gorgeous, on her way to being a spiritual star.

FreeFall Theatre Company will cast and produce this production of MARIE AND ROSETTA before it is produced at the Hippodrome. Actors will be considered for possible replacements for the Hippodrome production.

Native Gardens
by Karen Zacharias
Director: TBD. 1st rehearsal: April 3 Run: April 24 – May 17

One of the hottest new plays in America right now, Native Gardens is a brand-new hot-button comedy that pits neighbor against neighbor. When rising career professionals, Pablo and Tania, move in next door to deep-rooted D.C. socialites, Frank and Virginia, they start off neighborly. But when a questionable fence line threatens Frank’s prize-winning orchids, the gardening gloves come off and civility turns into a backyard turf war!

Tania Del Valle

Friendly, civil, smiles a lot, but her opinions are well engrained and she will fight ruthlessly to protect her turf. Prone to making offensive statements -- for the most part, unknowingly.

Frank Butley
55-65 year old, White; a gentle and sensitive soul who has devoted himself to his pristine English garden in his retirement. Beta to his wife’s Alpha. Friendly in a steady WASP-ish way, wants to get along with the neighbors but cannot embrace a native garden next door. Becomes
indignant easily. Finds his courage when the chips are down.
