PREPARATION

Please prepare a brief contemporary monologue, preferably no more than three minutes in length.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

DEAD AND BURIED by James McLindon. Director: Laura Ekstrand

1st rehearsal: Monday, September 3. Runs September 27 – October 14 (Friday-Sunday).

In this dark comedy set in a small New England town at Halloween, 18-year-old Perdue finds a job
in a place most people wouldn’t even consider: the local graveyard. Bid, the taciturn former Marine
who runs the cemetery, hires Perdue because she’s moved by her plight. Robbie, Bid’s assistant,
a fatherless boy whose knowledge of manhood has been gleaned from the pages of Maxim ,
launches a doomed campaign to seduce Perdue. By play’s end, the characters’ search for what
they’ve lost—a mother, a father, a child—ends when they find one another instead.

Roles:
Perdue: Female, 18, lost but driven, intelligent. This role is open.
Bid: Female, middle-aged cemetery supervisor, tough as nails. (CAST)
Robbie: Male, 19, cemetery worker, goofy and looking for a friend. This role is open.

PSYCHODRAMA by Phoebe Farber. Director: Betsy True

1st rehearsal: Monday, Jan. 21. Runs Feb. 14 - March 3 (Friday-Sunday)

Welcome to the weekly divorce group, held in the basement of the Unitarian church. The members
are suddenly left stranded when Mitchell, their leader leaves halfway through. Luckily, Barb has
agreed to be the new group leader. Hold onto your seat.

Roles:
Barb: 50s, female, group leader, enthusiastic (CAST)
Chuck: 20s, male, eager to prove himself, swagger This role is open.
Syl: 40s, female, angry, likes to be in charge (CAST)
Dave: early 50s, male, passive, fearful (CAST)
Mel: early 40s, female, guarded, tries to stay positive (CAST)

Theatre’s statement: “We are actively seeking to increase our knowledge of a diverse pool of actors.
All ethnicities encouraged to attend. Although some roles are cast from our ensemble, we draw on
actors we meet for productions, readings and other projects as well as future opportunities.”

downtown Summit stop. Walk down Broad Street approximately ½ mile, make a right on Ashwood
(dry cleaner on corner). Make first left onto Morris Avenue. Theatre is on corner between Ashwood
and Russell. Enter in Russell Place alley on side of building.”
