BREAKDOWN

[CYRANO]
Male. 40s-60s: He is a poet, philosopher, and soldier — a man of courage, honor and soul. He is an expert swordsman and challenges anyone who mentions his nose. He furiously guards his intellectual freedom and his integrity. He loves Roxane alone and keep his love secret from her until the moment of his death. Smart, funny, and heartbreaking. Strong stage combat (with swords/rapier) preferred. Actors of all ethnicities strongly encouraged to submit.

[DE GUICHE]
Male. 40’s-60’s. Dangerous, elegant, powerful, Macchiavlian nobleman in love with Roxane and carries a deep hatred for Cyrano. Vain and arrogant at the start but truly changes through the last two acts of the play. Moves from trying to destroy what threatens him to respecting and upholding it. He learns humility and compassion. Actors of all ethnicities strongly encouraged to submit.
