SLIGHT OF MIND Soars Into The Citadel Theatre's Spaces And Beyond

Edmonton's Theatre Yes is taking flight into the great unknown of the Citadel Theatre with their latest production, Slight of Mind. Featuring the fictional airline, Icarus Air, Slight of Mind will take audiences to places they can only imagine. From sky to sea, from opulent lobbies to hidden caverns, this roving production promises to take its audience on an intimate and unparalleled journey to the truth at the core of every myth.

Theatre Yes, in collaboration with the Citadel Theatre, presents an adventure that defies space and time with its newest work, which intertwines three flight-related stories into one incredible production by local playwright Beth Graham. Slight of Mind focuses on three legendary figures whose feats made them mythic: Amelia Earhart, the fearless female pilot whose disappearance during her attempt to circumnavigate the globe is one of the most enduring mysteries in aviation history; Valentina Tereshkova, the Russian cosmonaut who became the first woman in space; and Icarus, the boy from ancient Greek lore who famously flew too close to the sun.

Graham expertly weaves the legendary stories of these three figures together by introducing the audience to Agnes, a nine-year-old who is fascinated by flight and dreams of becoming a pilot. Flight attendants from Icarus Air will guide the audience to various spaces in the Citadel Theatre complex. This intimate promenade performance features two distinct pathways through which the performance can be viewed. Audiences will be split into two groups and taken to sites in different orders, making each performance experience truly unique.

Theatre Yes is well-known for their immersive productions, including the National Elevator Project, which featured 16 very short plays performed in working elevators around Edmonton; Anxiety, which took audiences to a remote warehouse full of secrets; and Viscosity, a performance installation about the oil field and the people working on its frontlines.

The World Premiere of Slight of Mind is part of Collider, the Citadel Theatre's new programming that celebrates new work each spring. This year, Collider includes three new works, including the World Premieres of The Candidate and The Party.

Slight of Mind runs March 27 to April 7, 2019, at the Citadel Theatre in every space but the theatres. Guests will check in at Box Office and be directed to the secret starting place of the production. Tickets are available at www.citadeltheatre.com and 780.425.1820. Tickets start at just $30 plus fees and GST.
