Matilda The Musical is coming to Edmonton this month. The stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved children's story is a delightful spectacle filled with music, magic, and maggots (or children, as they are more commonly known). After a sold-out run in Winnipeg, this co-production with Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre and Arts Club Theatre Company runs February 16 to March 17 in the Shoctor Theatre.

Matilda The Musical is one of the most critically and popularly successful musicals of the last 20 years, winning more than 85 international awards, 16 for Best Musical, including a record seven Olivier Awards and five Tony Awards.

This brand-new production, directed by Daryl Cloran, began its Western Canada run in Winnipeg in January, moved to Edmonton this month, and will finish its journey in Vancouver in the summer of 2019. With music direction by Don Horsburgh, choreography by Kimberley Rampersad, set and costume design by Cory Sincennes, lighting design by Gerald King, and sound design by Brad Danyluk, this incredible production is guaranteed to leave audiences cheering along with Matilda, an extraordinary child who takes a stand against the bullies in her life and changes her destiny - while reminding everyone that "sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty.''

The show features all-star cast, including Lilla Solymos (Citadel's A Christmas Carol) and Anna Anderson-Epp alternating the role of Matilda, Alison MacDonald (Citadel's Legends of Carnegie Hall, The Penelopiad) as Miss Honey, and John Ullyatt (Citadel's Once, Crazy For You, Shakespeare in Love) as Miss Trunchbull.

Matilda runs February 16 to March 17, 2019 in Shoctor Theatre at The Citadel Theatre. Tickets are available at www.citadeltheatre.com and 780.425.1820. Tickets start at just $30 plus fees and GST.
