Center Stage Jackson is opening its 2018-19 Season with The Music Man, Book, Music & Lyrics by Meredith Willson, based on a story by Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey.

Performances will be held over two weekends: November 2-4 and 9-11, 2018 on the stage of the Baughman Theatre inside Jackson College's Potter Center (2111 Emmons Rd. Jackson, MI 49201). Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7:30pm, Sunday performances will begin at 3:00pm.

The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize - this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. Harold's plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the mysterious town librarian. But can Marian transform Harold into a respectable citizen before the town gets wise to his devious deeds? The Music Man won 9 Tony Awards in 1958, even beating out West Side Story for Best Musical that year. The energetic music includes recognizable (and highly parodied) favorites such as "Ya Got Trouble" and "Seventy Six Trombones."

The cast features Joshua Monsoon (Harold Hill), Amanda Frerichs (Marian Paroo), Steven Owsley (Marcellus Washburn), Sandy Brooks (Mrs. Paroo), Mason Valdivia (Winthrop Paroo), Daniel Dye (Mayor Shinn), Anne Fleming (Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn), Sydney Moore (Zaneeta Shinn), Ethan Miller (Tommy Djilas), Serena Fleming (Amaryllis), Matthew McDonald, Anthony Reinker, Jacob Jabkiewicz, and Preston Judd (Barbershop Quartet/School Board), as well as an ensemble of over forty south central Michigan actors.

The Music Man's Production Team includes Lisa Cryderman (Director), Katie Meyers and Doug Meyers (Producers), Dr. Stephen R. Murphy (Vocal Director), Larry Sumner Jr. (Orchestra Director), Aimie Smith (Choreography), Stephanie Pierce (Stage Manager), Christalena Van Aken (Costumes), Susanna Ellis (Technical Director), Holly Myers (Properties), Chuck Edwards (Sound), Amanda Kloack-Gregurich (Lights), and Eddie Burkhead (Set and Graphic Design).

This energetic musical is family-friendly, and we encourage young ones to attend!
