THE LITTLE PRINCE Comes to The Denver Children's Theatre

The JCC Mizel Arts and Culture Center has been proud to produce whimsical and touching stories through its Denver Children's Theatre for 22 years. 2019 will represent the final season for this community staple and it's determined to go out with a blast through the stars. Opening on March 14 and playing through May 3 the Denver Children's Theatre will be presenting the heart-warming story for all ages, The Little Prince, written by Rick Cummins and John Scoullar, adapted from the literary classic by French author Antoine de Saint-Exup ry.

The Little Prince tells the story of an unlikely friendship between two stranded travelers in the Sahara Desert, an Aviator whose plane has broken down and a mysterious little prince who experiences the world through his own unique lens. During their short time together in the desert, the Little Prince tells the Aviator about his adventures through the galaxy, and about his unique relationship with a very special flower on his own tiny planet. Eventually, both the Little Prince and the Aviator must go home each with a new understanding of how to live again: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.

Since 1997, the award-winning Denver Children's Theatre has produced quality theatre for young audiences, presenting fully mounted main stage productions featuring superb sets and costumes and some of the finest adult professional actors in Denver. The cast includes: Rachel Graham (as The Little Prince), Henry Award and True West-winning actress, Missy Moore, Damon Guerrasio, and Ilasiea Gray - who received a True West Award for making history as a princess of color as the title role in Denver Children's Theatre's 2018 production of "Sleeping Beauty."

This year's show is directed by veteran, award-winning director, Steve Wilson, the Executive Artistic Director of the JCC Mizel Arts and Culture Center. About the production, Wilson stated: It is with a mixture of sadness and excitement that we announce this will be our final season. We are sad to sunset this wonderful program that has enlightened 150,000 children and adults over time. For many Colorado children, we were their first experience seeing live theatre.
We are so grateful to have had the privilege of enlightening young minds with the creativity and imagination that only theatre can provide. Given all this, we do have a spectacular show for you this year! Please stay tuned for more information as we 'reimagine' programming at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center for 2020 and beyond.
