You don't need to take those old records off the shelf, just go to Possum Hall Oct. 27 or 28 for "A Night of Motown Hits - Classic Soul" and let the music touch your heart and start your feet moving.

Set for only two performances, the Possum Point Players fundraiser includes 25 Motown classics performed by more than 20 singers. Tickets for the music filled show are $25 and will benefit the lobby refurbishing project. There will be a silent auction of baskets stacked with themed selections, coupons and gift cards from local businesses and restaurants, and household items of practicality and whimsy. A baked goods table will feature homemade treats, sweets and savories, from some of the most respected ovens in Sussex County. General admission tickets are available at www.possumpointplayers.org and the office ticket line 302-856-4560.

Co-directors Lillian Blake and Clausius Bowden and Music Director Christy Taylor have assembled a cast of singers from eleven Southern Delaware communities, several nearby Eastern Shore Maryland towns, Baltimore, Md., and Brooklyn, NY. Blake, of Salisbury, Bowden, and Taylor, of Georgetown, said there are songs made famous by many Motown icons including Diana Ross, The Four Tops, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Marvin Gaye and Martha and the Vandellas.

Bowden said they fully expect people to be dancing in the aisles and rocking in their seats as they hear Motown classic favorites that have never gone out of style. The Saturday, Oct. 27 show is at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday, Oct. 28 matinee is at 2 p.m.
