BWW Previews: October AUDITIONS FOR JUDY GARLAND 'World's Greatest Entertainer' to be staged in '19 at the Baby Grand

Judy Garland "World's Greatest Entertainer", a NEW book musical will have its World Premiere at the 300 seat baby grand in Wilmington DE on March 22, running for 6 performances.

Open auditions will take place at The Walnut Street Theatre on the 6th Floor on October 3 2018 from 6pm-8pm.

Seeking singer/dancer/actors for the roles of Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Choreographer Dann Dunn is also seeking 6 dancers proficient in jazz, tap, ballet and Fosse. Dancers will sing and play secondary roles.

The 26 legendary songs to be performed by the four leads are straight from The Great American Songbook.

Paid job. We will consider AEA performers for the 4 leads. Rehearsals will be condensed in a 3 week period in in March in Wilmington at The Grand. 8-piece live onstage band will accompany, directed by MD David Zipse.

The 4 leads must sing, speak and act in the manner of their characters. All must have comic timing. Judy and Liza must be strong dancers. Frank and Dean must move well. We are not looking for caricatures. One's acting ability will be channeled in to create an in-depth characterization. Prepare a 1 min Broadway song for audition, preferably from the catalog of that icon you are going for. For the 4 leads we will prepare sides.

A takeoff on the '60's -'70's TV show "This Is Your Life". However, instead of the preachers and next-door neighbors, we introduce as Judy's surprise guests Frank, Dean and Liza singing their signature, American Songbook tunes.

Time: May 7 1961, two weeks after Judy's triumphant Carnegie Hall performance, termed 'the greatest night in show business history'.

The fictional TV show is called "Celebrity Story"

Set Design: 1960's TV studio set. Mid-century set pieces.

Women will also play Dean's "Golddiggers".
