North Texas Performing Arts Seeks Professional Actors For Educational Daytime Show MADAGASCAR

North Texas Performing Arts celebrates the 11th anniversary of their Professional Daytime Children's Series with a production of "Madagascar-A Musical Adventure - TYA." The Daytime Children's Series is a series of productions with professional actors performing educational literacy-based shows for pre-school and elementary-aged children during the day.

North Texas Performing Arts is looking for a diverse cast 10 non-union actors over the age of 18 to star in their Daytime Children's Series "Madagascar-A Musical Adventure - TYA." All actors must be able to sing, dance and act. Auditions will consist of a prepared musical theatre song (please have an accompaniment track available either by a CD or electronic device) and cold readings from the script.

"Madagascar-A Musical Adventure - TYA" will be directed by Daniel Dean Miranda. Daniel has been working with North Texas Performing Arts since 2008. He leads the NTPA Repertory theatre program and directs for NTPA's Plano Youth Theatre. Daniel has been a local actor since the age of six. A credits include: Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Jesus in Godspell, Emcee in Cabaret, Patsy in Monty Python's Spamalot, William Barfée in The 25th Anual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance. Favorite directing credits include: Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, The Wizard of Oz, Godspell, Little shop of Horrors, Seussical the Musical, Heathers the Musical.

North Texas Performing Arts' Daytime Children's Series will perform at the Willow Bend Center of the Arts in Plano, TX on July 12-19.

Auditions will be held at the Willow Bend Center of the Arts, 6121 W Park Blvd, Suite B216, Plano, TX on June 5 and 6 from 1:00-3:00 PM with callbacks on June 8 from 1:00-3:00 PM.

Rehearsals will be held Tuesdays-Thursdays, 10:00 AM-3:00 PM, starting June 19th (excluding July 4). All rehearsals will be held at the Willow Bend Center of the Arts.

All actors cast will be responsible for every aspect of the production, including load-in and out of all props, costumes and set pieces. The actors will be asked to help find costume and prop pieces for the production. All actors will be paid a flat rate of $700 for the production, which will include all rehearsals, costume fittings, promotional photos, tech rehearsals, and performances. All rehearsals and performances will be held during the day; actors who are unavailable during the day should not audition. Please note that all rehearsals, tech rehearsals, and performances are mandatory. Actors who fail to be on time on a regular basis or make all of the rehearsals will be compensated less than the $700 flat rate.

Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar - A Musical Adventure follows all of your favorite crack-a-lackin' friends as they escape from their home in New York's Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien's Madagascar.
