Casting Complete for THE YELLOW BOAT at Resolute Theatre Project

THE YELLOW BOAT is a play about life. It's a play about imagination. It's a play about living with AIDS. The multiple award-winning play by David Saar will be brought to life by Resolute Theatre Project at Amy's Studio of Performing Arts this September and, although it brings to the state some mature themes, THE YELLOW BOAT is the perfect play for theatergoers from ages 10 to 110.

"I picked this show because it's not only a very moving story that celebrates a child's life but it also reinforces the idea that art is transformative and can reignite the fire inside ourselves when we feel that all hope is lost," director Taylor Owen said. "I'm so excited to tell this beautiful and true story with our incredible cast. It's going to be a very special show."

Based on the true story of author Saar's son, Benjamin, who was born with congenital hemophilia and died of AIDS-related complications in 1987, THE YELLOW BOAT is an exploration of the power of imagination and art's ability to transform lives in the face of overwhelming obstacles-all told through the eyes of 8-year-old Benjamin. THE YELLOW BOAT is a glorious affirmation of a young boy's journey, and the strength and courage of all children. It is a profound play of imagination, hope, and love, as well as a vibrant celebration of life for all ages.

Starring as young Benjamin is Ethan Mullins, with Tatiana Lucia Gantt and Matt Lancaster appearing as Mother and Father. The ensemble is made up of Ellen Eberhardt (Joy), Joseph House (Eddy), Mark Eaglesham and KT McGinn.

Director Taylor Owen will perform double duty as sound designer, with Amanda Brown serving as assistant director. The rest of the creative team includes Madeline Morris as stage manager, Kim Velten as properties designer, Jason Leyva as scenic designer and Ashley Peisher as costume designer. Artistic director Amy Cave leads the Resolute Theatre Project board, with members Steve Cave, Araceli Radillo, Joshua Hahlen, John Pfaffenberger, Danny Macchietto and Tim Clifford.
