The Metropolitan Opera's Production of ADRIANA LECOUVREUR Comes to the Big Screen in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse

Soprano Anna Netrebko joins the ranks of Renata Tebaldi, Montserrat Caballé, and Renata Scotto, taking on the title role of the real-life French actress who dazzled 18th-century audiences with her on-and offstage passion. The Metropolitan Opera's performance of Adriana Lecouvreur comes to the big screen in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, January 13 at 1pm. This encore screening is part of Atria Senior Living Classical Series with support from The Ridgefield Press and Whistle Stop Bakery. This series is underwritten by Lori & John Berisford, Jeanne Cook, Liz & Steven Goldstone, and Sabina & Walter Slavin.

Netrebko is joined by tenor Piotr Becza?a as Adriana's lover, Maurizio. The principal cast also features mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili and baritone Ambrogio Maestri. Gianandrea Noseda conducts. Sir David McVicar's staging, which sets the action in a working replica of a Baroque theater, premiered at the Royal Opera House in London, where The Guardian praised the "elegant production, sumptuously designed ... The spectacle guarantees a good night out."

The Ridgefield Playhouse offers free tickets to The Metropolitan Opera in HD series to students 18 and younger as a way for parents to introduce their children to the arts. FREE tickets are also available to students 18 and younger for Atria Senior Living Live in HD screenings of The Bolshoi Ballet and National Theatre of London.
