China's Lexie Liu Releases New Video 'Sleep Away'

China's next global female superstar and newest 88rising member, Lexie Liu, releases the video for her latest single, "Sleep Away." Entirely written and produced by Lexie Liu herself, the track is inspired by the unifying and uncompromising power of love. "Sleep Away" is the first single from Lexie's forthcoming project, which is set to release this winter via 88rising. Watch the video here.

Already a budding star in China, where she was a finalist on popular television series "The Rap Of China," Lexie Liu is preparing to make a huge impact in the US and beyond with her upcoming debut project, as she aims to be the new face of energy for Chinese female youth. Earlier this summer, Lexie Liu announced her signing to 88rising with the world-wide video release for "Like A Mercedes." The cyberpunk-inspired video was Lexie Liu's first introduction to a global audience, showing off how "her provocative sound is transcending language barriers." (i-D)

Born and raised in Changsha, China, 19-year-old Lexie Liu is creating a new template for hip-pop stardom. Although she grew up mainly in a Chinese environment, her provocative English lyrics and awareness of youth culture have set her apart from her contemporaries. After earning early recognition as a finalist on popular Korean television show, "K-pop Star 5," Lexie Liu passed on a record deal with one of Korea's largest entertainment companies in order to focus on her career independently in China. At the age of 18, she became the youngest Chinese musician to perform at SXSW in the United States. This promising trajectory along with Lexie Liu's distinct appearance caught the attention of the fashion industry where she landed placements in Puma's Suede 50 campaign and Levi's New Years TVC campaign. Lexie Liu has also been featured on the print pages of Asia's most prominent fashion publications, including Vogue Me, BAZAAR China, Nylon Japan and Nylon China.
