WHAT'S SO DANGEROUS ABOUT DANCING Turns Ten

The Plagiarists are at it again. For the 10th year in a row on the Eve of MLK Day they will dance the night away with What's So Dangerous About Dancing.

The event is part dance party, part gala, part prize-filled event. The inventive company cultivates more than just theatrical productions, playing host to salons, a curated art show and "What's So Dangerous About Dancing" in addition to stage plays. All of their events however are theatrical, creating immersive experiences flooded with art, music, words and dancing. This dance party began as a dance contest at Danny's Bar in Wicker Park. The house-turned bar-turned dance space was the perfect home for the theater company that turns all things into theater.

While the theater company turned 10 last year, their "What's So Dangerous About Dancing" event turns 10 this year. AND to keep Chicago audiences on their toes The Plagiarists are shaking things up. The party has moved to the more spacious Chief O'Neill's, a much loved Irish pub on Elston Avenue that hosts myriad theatrical events and nonstop raucous good times. The move also brings the dance party closer to another much loved Chicago event - Rhinofest. With Chief O'Neill's proximity to Prop Thtr, audiences (and artists alike) can skip from Rhinofest's opening weekend shows to the dance party and back again, creating a nonstop circuit of theatricality. Additionally the dance contest has been altered to truly be a dance party with music to "dance your faces off" courtesy of DJ Space Pants. The pressure is gone to attempt to dance the most dangerously; now party-goers will simply be asked to "dance like no one is watching." What could be more dangerous than that, we wonder.

In addition to the bar take-over and the dance party, The Plagiarists run a raffle throughout the night with prizes highlighting the best Chicago theaters, restaurants, events and sports teams can offer.
