ActorsNET Hosts World Premiere Of New Play

ActorsNET has changed titles for its March production - replacing Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale with the world premiere staging of The Crimes of Diana Eastlake by Mort Paterson.

"While fans of the Bard of Avon's The Winter's Tale may be disappointed by our cancelling and postponing it to a future date, we believe Mort Paterson's new play is an exciting addition to this season's schedule, and represents a wonderful opportunity to showcase a new work to area audiences," Artistic Director Cheryl Doyle said in a prepared release. "And we have assembled an amazingly talented cast to bring Mort's suspenseful tale to life.

"The Crimes of Diana Eastlake has been in the works for more than a year, undergoing revisions after several public readings elsewhere," Ms. Doyle explained. "In it, a widowed socialite learns her daughter - who had been volunteering to treat victims in a war-torn county - has been abducted and is being held for ransom by Middle Eastern terrorists. The distraught mother soon learns it is illegal to pay ransom demands to terrorists and has to find a way to do so even if it means risking arrest and imprisonment herself."
Cheryl Doyle and her company co-founder husband, Joe, co-direct a cast of popular ActorsNET stage veterans, including Carol Thompson as Diana Eastlake, along with George Hartpence, George Agalias, Ken Ammerman, Maryalice Rubins-Topoleski, Susan Blair, and Hayley Rubins-Topoleski. In his ActorsNET stage debut is Joseph Ryan, portraying the kidnapped daughter's coworker and boyfriend who was also kidnapped and then released by the captors to deliver ransom demands to the mother.

The Crimes of Diana Eastlake performs weekends March 8 - 24 at The Heritage Center Theatre, 635 N. Delmorr Avenue (Route 32), Morrisville, PA - near the Calhoun Street Bridge. Note that this represents a date change from the original schedule, which was to start on March 1.
