WYO Performing Arts & Education Center Announces 2018-19 Season

WYO Performing Arts & Education Center opens its 2018-2019 Season Saturday, September 22 with Jazz Legend Herb Alpert & wife Lani Hall. opening concert will be followed by twenty-two spectacular performances throughout the WYO season closing with contemporary high-octane Mexican fiddling, displayed by the award-winning Villalobos Brothers.

WYO season highlights include Karla Bonoff November 9, 2018; The TEN Tenors, December 8, 2018; The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, March 26, 2019; and The Kingston Trio, April 26, 2019.

The WYO will continue to present the Children's Educational and Family Series. Throughout the year a variety of six family and kid friendly performances will appear on the WYO stage. Each public performance is paired with one or two free matinees for area students and each event is appropriate for different age ranges. From Kindergarten to 12th grade, The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show to Tapestry Dance Company's Passing it Forward, there's something the entire family can enjoy.

Now in its 7th year at the WYO, The Met Live in HD's 2018-2019 season includes new works like Saint-Saëns' Samson et Dalila, Muhly and Wright's Marnie and Cilea's Adraina Lecouvreur. As well as old favorites like Verdi's Aida and La Traviata and Bizet's Carmen it's a compelling 13th live season for the Met.

in its second season at the WYO, the Bolshoi Ballet in Cinema's season broadcasts. The seven broadcasts from the famed Bolshoi in Moscow, Russia will include Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty and a new production of The Nutcracker which will sure to delight audience on Christmas Day!

New to the WYO is the National Theatre Live, the UK based National Theatre's groundbreaking project to broadcast world-class theatre to cinemas in the UK and internationally. Coming to the WYO for the first time in the 2018-2019 season and featuring six exciting theatrical productions captured live including Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch as Creature, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Sienna Miller as Stella and Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch as the tortured Prince.

And rounding out the WYO season, is the annual fundraising Gala. Put your fingers together for The Addams Family, a New Musical, October 20, 2018. Based on the well-known characters created by Charles Addams, the macabre members of the Addams family are put to the test one fateful night when outsiders come to dinner. Directed by Marva Craft with music direction by Kathy McNickle, The Addams Family will have you snapping with glee!
