Enjoy Story And Craft Hour At Ft Caspar, Today

Join us for Fort Caspar Museum's monthly Fremont Story and Craft Hour on Saturday, May 12th from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. First we will read a children's book aloud, then participants may make an art project inspired by the story. No reservations are required and all supplies will be provided. The workshop is open to all ages and is free with Museum admission. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

This month's book is "Dream Wolf," written and illustrated by Paul Goble. Based on a Plains Indian legend, this story describes the adventures of two lost children who seek shelter in a cave which turns out to be a wolf's den. Luckily the wolf is friendly, and he leads them safely home.

After the story, participants may make a paper "parfleche." A parfleche is a container traditionally made by American Indians from animal hide, usually buffalo, and decorated with geometric designs. They served as a suitcase, envelope, or toolbox and were used to store and transport food, clothing, or tools.

Fort Caspar Museum's hours in May are daily 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and admission prices are $4 for adults; $3 for youth (ages 13-18 years); $3 for seniors (62+ years); and free for children (12 years and younger) and for Museum members.
