Storm Lever, Phoenix Best and More Celebrate Black History Month At BROADWAY SESSIONS

BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway cast twice monthly. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida, Footloose, Dance Captain Dance Attack web series) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano.

This Thursday night, 2/21, Broadway Sessions will celebrate Black History Month with an all star line up of Broadway talent. The evening will put the spotlight on black influence, impact and legacy on Broadway and beyond. Performers will share music and stories that have resonated with them.

The evening will feature performances by Storm Lever (Summer), Quentin Earl Darrington (Once on this Island), Elijah Ahmad Lewis (Motown), Judith Franklin (Summer), Antoine L Smith (The Color Purple), Soara-Joye Ross (Les Mis), Brennyn Lark (Deena in West End Dream Girls), Avery Smith (Beautiful), Tiana Okoye (The Cher Show), Charity Angel Dawson (Waitress), Phoenix Best (Dear Evan Hansen), Jennie Harney Fleming (Hamilton), Michael Demby-Cain (Beauty and the Beast), Kathryn Allison (Aladdin), Nick Rashad Burroughs (King Kong), Shonica Gooden (Cats), John Edwards (Smokey Joe's Cafe) and more.

The evening will also feature performances by vocalists Aneesa Folds and Richard Baskin Jr. And will feature a special performance by Bubbling Brown Sugar composer Emme Kemp.

A few audience members will also be invited to take the stage in our weekly Singing for Shots OPEN MIC CHALLENGE. Audience members interested in singing in open mic are encouraged to bring their books.

Broadway Sessions takes place twice monthly on Thursday evenings at The Laurie Beechman Theater inside The West Bank Café located at 407 west 42nd street (corner of 42nd street and 9th avenue). Doors open at 10pm with showtime at 10:30. $5 drink specials all night. $10 advance/ $15 at door cover includes a donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.
