Starting this week, medici.tv will broadcast two of the summer's most highly anticipated opera productions, one each from the Glyndebourne Festival and the Salzburg Festival: Barber's Vanessa starring Emma Bell as Vanessa from Glyndebourne on August 14; and Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades conducted by Mariss Jansons on August 16. Each new production will be streamed on medici.tv, the world's premiere classical music streaming channel.

On August 14, 2018, medici.tv will stream Keith Warner's new production of Samuel Barber's Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece Vanessa live from the Glyndebourne Festival. The production stars the acclaimed British soprano Emma Bell as the reclusive and mysterious title character, French mezzo-soprano Virginie Verrez as her niece Erika, and Lithuanian tenor Edgaras Montvidas as Anatol, the man whom they both love. Crowning the cast is the celebrated veteran mezzo-soprano Rosalind Plowright as the Old Baroness. The young Czech conductor Jakub Hr?ša, Music Director of Glyndebourne on Tour, leads the London Philharmonic Orchestra through Barber's atmospheric, psychologically thrilling score. The live-stream will begin at 6:30 PM London Time / 1:30 PM New York Time.

Following last week's live-stream of Romeo Castellucci's new production of Salome starring Asmik Grigorian from the Salzburg Festival, medici.tv gives audiences worldwide the opportunity to return to the Salzburg Festival. On August 16, medici.tv will broadcast Hans Neuenfels new production of The Queen of Spades, recorded on August 13. Mariss Jansons, a leading interpreter of Tchaikovsky's penultimate opera, will lead the Vienna Philharmonic in the lush and dramatic score. The production stars Russian soprano Evgenia Muraveva as Liza. Muraveva returns to the Salzburg Festival after her sensational debut last season, when she replaced Nina Stemme in the daunting title role of Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. American tenor Brandon Jovanovich will sing Hermann, the outsider obsessed with discovering the secret winning combination of cards, while the legendary mezzo-soprano Hanna Schwarz sings the role of the Countess, the woman who holds the secret. Rounding out the cast is Igor Golavatenko as Count Yeletsky and Oksana Volkova as Polina. The Queen of Spades will be broadcast on medici.tv at 8:45 PM Salzburg Time / 7:45 PM London Time / 2:45 PM New York Time.
