Erblin Nushi's True Story BINI Is A Finalist At The Student Academy Awards

Erblin Nushi's heart wrenching story Bini shares the story of a young boy whose family is sent to a refugee camp during the 1999 Kosovar War, this film is based on the true story of the director, who lived this nightmare as a child. This gripping tale is one out of only eight finalists at the Student Academy Awards and Erblin is the only undergraduate amongst all the finalists.

A young boy, thrust into the horrors of war, clings to a piece of candy as he and his family are forced to become refugees.

Director Erblin Nushi is a George Mason University graduate who directed ten short films in only two years. His films were screened at prestigious film festivals such as the Virginia Film Festival, Washington West Film Festival, Prishtina International Film Festival, The Film Festival at Little Washington, Lux et Lex Film Festival, and the Stockholm Independent Film Festival. His filmography includes The Eyes Behind BINI, The Last Minute, Happy Moments, Gabriel's Revolt, Peanut, She's Not Her, In Safe Hands, One Day and Black. His latest film Bini was nominated for Best Director at the Student World Awards 2018 and has been selected to screen at the Oscar qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival and the DC Shorts Film Festival.

Producer Lisa Thrasher is an Independent Film Producer who ran and served as the President of Film Production & Distribution at POWER UP Films for over a decade, a Film Production Company for Women and the Queer community. Her Credits include Girltrash: All Night Long, Itty Bitty Titty Committee (SXSW Best Narrative Feature jury award winner, Berlinale Teddy Award nominee) Get to Know Us First, Little Black Boot, Billy's Dad is a Fudge-Packer, Debs and Stuck.

Bini Cinematographer Isak Duraku is a graduate of the Academy of Arts at the University of Prishtina where he earned his B.A. in Cinematography and Master's in film directing. He has worked in numerous feature and short films as a Director of Photography in Kosovo.

Bini will screen at Hollyshorts Film Festival on August 17th at 2:30pm and at DC Shorts Film Festival in September. The film will also screen at the Student Academy Awards in October.
