About the Author

For over 40 years, George Crandall has been involved in the life of U.S. cities, both as an architect and urban designer, and as a passionate and dedicated citizen activist. In 1998, he founded the Portland, Oregon consulting firm Crandall Arambula. Many of the firm's revitalization projects have received awards for their innovative and effective solutions to seemingly intractable problems. Crandall earned Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering, both from the University of Arizona. He is active in numerous professional and civic organizations, and lives in Portland.
