RLTP Begins the New Year with Magic and Mystery

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) is excited to announce its second production of its 2018/19 season in its new home at 456 Main Street! The 2018/19 season will continue with Tony Kushner's The Illusion starring Dave Hayes, Lisa Vitrano, Patrick Cameron, Cassie Cameron, Rolando Gomez, David Marciniak, Sara Kow-Falcone and Ray Boucher. The production team includes Lynne Koscielniak (set design), John Rickus (light design), Jenna Damberger (costume design), Emily Powrie (props), Katie Menke (sound design) and Adam Rath (fight choreography).

Synopsis: From Pierre Corneille's, L'Illusion Comique. A beautiful story about love in all its wonderful and terrible forms. A penitent father seeks out a powerful, dark, magician to help him track down the son he nearly killed fifteen years ago. In a dark cave, Alcandre the Magician will conjure three tales from the lost son's life for his father to witness. Tales of love, danger, and betrayal... told by shadows and illusions. In the process Alcandre shares a new understanding of the grandest illusion of all - love.

Tony Kushner bio: Tony Kushner plays include A Bright Room Called Day; Angels in America, Parts One and Two; Slavs!; Homebody/Kabul;the musical Caroline, or Change, and the opera A Blizzard on Marblehead Neck, both with composer Jeanine Tesori; and The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism With a Key to the Scriptures. He has adapted and translated Pierre Corneille's The Illusion,S.Y. Ansky's The Dybbuk, Bertolt Brecht's The Good Person of Szechwan and Mother Courage and Her Children; and the English-language libretto for the opera Brundibar by Hans Krása. He wrote the screenplays for Mike Nichols' film of Angels in America, and for Steven Spielberg's Munich and Lincoln. Kushner is the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize, two Tony Awards, three Obie Awards, two Evening Standard Awards, an Olivier Award, an Emmy Award, two Oscar nominations, and the Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award, among other honors. In 2012, he was awarded a National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama. He lives in Manhattan with his husband, Mark Harris.

The Illusion opens Friday, January 18th and runs through Sunday, February 10that the Road Less Traveled Theater at 456 Main Street. Regular performance times are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30PM and Sunday at 2:00PM. Tickets are $38 general admission plus $5 students (Mighty Taco Student Thursday) $22 students (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Mighty Taco Student Thursday dates: January 17, 24, 31 and February 7 ($5 student tickets available for purchase at door only w/valid ID).
