BRIC House Sessions Presents Talib Kweli And Boogát

BRIC, the pioneering NYC arts and media organization celebrating 40 years as the leading presenter of free cultural programming in Brooklyn, presents legendary MC Talib Kweli as he celebrates hometown love on Valentine's Day with a live show in Fort Greene. The performance kicks off the 2019 season of BRIC House Sessions, a must-do Thursday concert series featuring world-class artists that reflect the diversity of Brooklyn and bring the ethos of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival into the organization's Downtown Brooklyn headquarters. Brazilian MC NIKO IS opens the show with a set featuring tracks from his recent album, UNIKO. City Point, an innovative entertainment and retail destination, and a supporter of culture in Downtown Brooklyn, joins BRIC House Sessions 2019 as Lead Sponsor.

Talib Kweli has earned his stripes as one of the most lyrically-gifted, socially-aware, and politically-insightful rappers to emerge in the last 20 years. A BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival alum, Kweli has worked with Mos Def as one-half of Black Star; partnered with producer Hi-Tek for Reflection Eternal; released landmark solo material; and collaborated with Pharrell Williams, the Soul Rebels, and J Dilla. Kweli delivers top-tier lyricism, crafting captivating stories, and showing the ability to rhyme over virtually any type of instrumental. For this concert, he'll be joined by special guest k'valentine.

Brazilian lyricist and Kweli protégé NIKO IS will open with tracks from his highly anticipated debut album UNIKO. As a preview of the Brazilian-inspired sounds found on the record, he recently released "Meet Me in the Future," which features Kweli and shows off Niko's "skilled bilingual flow and raspy vocals, backed by an irresistible beat" (Remezcla).

The official BRIC House Sessions Opening Night After Party takes place at DeKalb Market's new speakeasy, Understudy.

Tickets may be purchased online at BRICartsmedia.org or via Eventbrite.com. The Box Office at BRIC House is open on performance days, one hour prior to the event. BRIC House is located at 647 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn. BRIC House is open weekdays and Saturday at 8am and Sundays at 10am.
