I wish they had reconfigured the orchestra. I hate that aisle right in the middle. And those side seats in the “box” are still ugly to me. I don’t remember it being so yellow?  How many seats are there now?

It would have been nice if Mr. Roxy could have seen the theater now.

Surprised they wouldn't reconfigure and get ride of the aisle. That makes more premium seats and less obstructed view seats.

I’m suspecting the Tammy Faye musical to last six months to a year from 2024 to 2025. Afterwards, I think we can predict Disney will bring in the Beauty and the Beast revival tour for a three to 6 month run in the spring of 2026. By the time B&TB closes the Minskoff and the surrounding building will likely be ready for the casino redevelopment, so The Lion King will move over to the Palace.

Hot take: it looks like a Trump deigned building with fake gold all over the place. And that center aisle is just … why.

I think it looks nice overall, I just wish the colors weren’t so vibrant.  It’s definitely giving Trump meets Las Vegas casino.  It’s the yellow and gold and blue carpets and seats.

Well then the creators of Tammy Faye will feel right at home.  Will the hotel promote Tammy Faye?  I wonder if their guests get any perks like a discount or something

Why would the hotel have anything to do with the show? There was a hotel attached to the Palace prior to it being lifted and I don’t believe they were provided with perks for the guests.

Didn’t the developer pay for the renovation so that he could build the hotel?  I don’t know what sort of agreement they have

I would need to see more photos or in-person, but I still don't really like this color scheme.

Jerry Mitchell was at the opening, and he said the balcony finally feels a part of the theatre

Ok yea I don't like most of this renovation. The chandelier, carpet and lobby areas are too modern and look like they belong in a Vegas casino. They don't fit into the theater's existing architecture at all. I also don't like the color scheme but I realize that may just be my personal taste.

Why do all this work and not give the theater more wing space and make the stage itself larger, help sight lines, etc.

I spent a lot of time in the old Palace Theater in 1983 installing the original LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. The thing I remember most about the backstage was a brick pillar upstage left that all the moving scenery had to track around to come on and off stage. I've got to believe that at least they eliminated that pillar when they lifted the house.

Edited to add: Just reviewed the new photos of backstage and sure enough, that pillar is gone :What’s Next for the Palace Theatre?.

Well that's good to know! The wing space still looks tight to me.
