I had to postpone my trip a few weeks and am redoing my show list. Having trouble deciding on the last slot or two. These are shows Im interested in but dont yet have tickets for. Rank them and please give me your thoughts! Yall are always so helpful! Plz note that if I didnt list the show Im not into seeing it.
Beetlejuice All My Sons Tootsie Gary Aint Too Proud Frankie and Johnny Happy Talk Network Hillary and Clinton Constitution Be More Chill
I have tickets for The Cher Show, The Prom, Kiss Me Kate and Burn This so far.
Can't rank them, as I haven't seen all of them, but my opinion on All My Sons is this: if you have never seen a production of All My Sons, go see it, just because it is an amazing, amazing play. If you have previously seen a production of it, don't go to see it, because the directing is mediocre, and I thought Annette Bening was just okay. Tracy Letts and Benjamin Walker, however, were both stellar!

What about HADESTOWN? That you should be on the top of your list.

I would honestly disagree with this. I was completely unfamiliar with All My Sons (and really all of Miller's work, for the most part) and it was mediocre. I would really only call Benjamin Walker a standout, but that's it. There are probably better far introductions to All My Sons than that production.
^^^^ I was surprised that posters on another thread thought "there wasn't much to Annette Benning's part". I worked on a production starring Jack Klugman and Sada Thompson back in the 1970s and I promise you Thompson was a dominating presence (in the best sense of the term) on that stage.
If you only had a change of plans from a few weeks ago, why aren't you just sticking with that list?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I think if you revisit "5 shows" "Kong or Lear" and "One final slot" the other 3 threads you've started asking people what you should see on this trip, you'll find some additional helpful responses there.
