Has anyone watched this show yet? The first season is pretty great: Joey King is a true chameleon, Margo Martindale's cameo is worth the price of admission... plus, the whole true-crime story is a gritty, psychotic reboot of "Gypsy" the musical. I'm not kidding.
I've watched it. It's a fascinating story with amazing acting. The documentary, Mommie Dead and Dearest, is also excellent. Fun fact, Gypsy and her Mama's facebook page is still up. It includes Gypsy's last post about killing her Mother and the ensuing reactions and comments from their friends in real time as things unfold. Fascinating!
I watched it and was impressed. Joey should win many awards. She's riveting. She's upstages the always marvelous Arquette, which is quite the feat. Both women are sublime. Margo's deliciously sinister turn is glorious. Juliette Lewis and Chloe Sevigny are so good at playing white trash, it's scary.
Everyone involved is fully committed. My only small quibble is I think it could have been slightly shorter. They probably could have accomplished everything in less episodes.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
it was a great show. its disgusting tho that they aren't compensating gypsy rose in ANY way. which is why she is suing the creators. I really hope they release her from prison early. that poor girl suffered as a prisoner to her mother for years.
