The national tour of Falsettos just had their first preview performance tonight in Fayetteville, AR. Was anyone there, or are ya'll planning on going? I'd love to hear about it.

I'll be seeing them in Dallas next Saturday, super excited! wink

I just bought my ticket for the tour's closing performance in Charlotte on June 30th. I can't wait!!! FALSETTOS was the first show I ever saw on Broadway back in 1993 and I was at the closing performance of the revival. Excited to see this new cast.

I’m seeing it March 19th in San Francisco and am very excited. My only concern is the age of the actors. They all look so young? I feel like for those seeing Falsettos for the first time it might take away from it.

Just saw a photo of their merch, it's better looking than the Broadway merch, especially the shirt.

Intermission, I’m loving this cast. I was a huge fan of the LCT revival, I know some were mixed on the set.

Nick Blaemire was the stand out for me. He had a great take on Mendel. I will say, while Nick Adams and Eden Espinosa have great voices, they don’t blend well. Maybe that’s something that will improve.

Also the tour has two kids. The one in tonight is Jim Kaplan and he is a big weak spot. Either because he can’t or is too afraid to, he won’t hit the high notes and drops everything down. And it’s really distracting and does not sound good. I thought he just couldn’t hit the notes, but towards the end of act 1 he hit a high note, so maybe he’s just nervous.

I’ll report back after act 2, but those were my initial thoughts.

Thought the show was great. If my memory serves they slightly changed some of the set design for the beginning and end of the hospital scenes. I imagine the cast will continue to get better and better as they get more shows under their belt. I loved it

I have serious reservations about a FALSETTOS where Mendel is the standout.

(No disrespect to Zien and Uranowitz, who were each brilliant in his way.)

Standout because he played the character so much differently than Uranowitz. The rest of the cast were great, but didn’t really do anything different than Rannells, Borles, and Block did.

I saw the show in Dallas on February 14. I thought it was wonderful. There wasn't a weak link in the cast,  and they all had great chemistry. Everyone's vocals were very strong. I thought Nick Blaemire and Max Von Essen in particular were excellent. The Jason I saw was Thatcher Jacobs, and he was great. He has a beautiful voice and held his own with the adults on stage. I highly recommend seeing this tour if you can!

I’m reading this during my car ride to the Winspear Opera House in Dallas right now, I’ll be there for today’s matinee. SO excited!

Just saw the show in Dallas.

Easily one of the most wonderful pieces of live theatre I have ever seen. It was stunning.

The cast was phenomenal. I had never heard of Nick Blaemire until now, but he was the standout for me. Like others above have mentioned, his interpretation of Mendel comes off as pretty lively, and while that was something I wasn’t sure would work in my eyes, it made his scenes with Jason really really great. I thought it created a really nice bridge to solace for Jason that he wasn’t able to find when he was around either of his parents. Our Jason was Thatcher Jacobs, they had wonderful chemistry together. Jacobs was one of the stronger child actors I’ve seen in awhile, I feel as though he really knew what he was doing up there. He did slip up on a line very briefly during “March of the Falsettos,” but I felt as though he handled it very professionally. For only one week out on the road so far, I was more than happy with his grip on the character.

Eden Espinosa, Max Von Essen, and Nick Adams were also great, but it really felt more as if they were just “going through the motions” of the Broadway cast. Given that they’re new to this show, I’d hope that they might be able to find a better, more unique footing in these characters as the tour continues, but I was still extremely happy with the performances as they were. Even if they mirrored the Broadway cast’s interpretations, I adored the show on Broadway and it’s basically what I came here to see, to the best degree possible. Nick Adams’s “You Gotta Die Sometime,” was absolutely riveting and had me floored. I really have nothing to complain about.

The show was amazing- their touring stint isn’t too long, please go see this if you can. It was, wonderful.

I’m going to be in Sacramento for one night next month and it just happens to coincide with one of the dates that Falsettos will be there. Already great prices (front Row Orchestra is $90 including fees), but wondering if there is a promo code?

Also, I was leaning toward the front row center of Orchestra Pit as I tend to like to sit close, but I note that most of the Orchestra Pit seats are still available. Is there something I should know about this theater that should make me wary of these seats? The rest of the front orchestra is mostly sold so it seems odd.

Doesn't look like it

Yeah. I saw that. Doesn’t look bad although that looks like a concert which is different than a theatrical production. Still waiting to bite the bullet although I doubt I’ll find a promo code (I’ve been looking) for front orchestra. If not, I’ll pay full price.

First row in the Sacramento theater is great - I’ve sat there many times.

Falsettos starts in San Francisco in a week, March 19. I received a promotional e-mail from the San Francisco Bay Times with a link to orchestra tickets for $60 ($49 plus $11 fees). It looks like this is good for the first ten or so performances. I snagged a pair, orchestra center row B. Not sure if this link will work:

Also currently on Goldstar [free membership for the site]  for 3/19-3/31.   Original priced tix $56-$132, Goldstar priced $40-$70.

I was offered comps for opening night as a group leader, but once with my group later in the run will suffice.  May get to go backstage because both Nicks have a "Six Degrees Of Ethel Merman" association with my nephew and his husband in NYC.

Wow. Just wow. Still processing tonight. Easily one of the finest nights of theater I’ve ever experienced. The whole cast was firing on all cylinders, including Thatcher Jacobs as Jason. I was crying so much at the end that the woman next to me patted my knee to comfort me. I have to get up in less than 3 hours to catch my early flight home so I’ll try to keep this short. Eden Espinosa, Max Von Essen, Nick Adams and Nick Blaemire were just phenomenal. Someone said they felt some of them were walking through their roles earlier in the run. That couldn’t have been further from the truth tonight. In fact, Nick and Max did the curtain call plea for Broadway Cares and Max had to stop talking momentarily because he was overcome with emotion. He says it was the first time they had given the Broadway Cares plea after the show.

I have to admit my first exposure to the show was the PBS broadcast of the revival and I was slightly underwhelmed by it. Tonight the show came totally alive for me. I went crazy at the merch booth. Before the show I bought the mug, magnet and keychain. At intermission, I bought the grey t-shirt with the rainbow and “love can tell a million stories.” I also bought the 2-CD OBCR. I already have it in my Apple Music library, but I felt like I needed a physical copy of it. After the show I also made a donation to Broadway Cares in exchange for a signed window card and a tote bag.

I'm going next Tuesday in San Francisco - I'm excited!

How much was the Broadway Cares donation for the signed window card?
