I've been hearing lots of good things, about this. Looking forward to the North American tour. Figuring this board is the right place to go to with questions, since it has played quite a bit in London.

However, I have heard that there are moments in the show with pyrotechnics/gunshots/etc. Are they particularly startling or loud? I know someone, who is interested in going in NYC, but tends to be pretty jumpy/startled easily (with gunshots & the like.)

Should such a person go to the show or avoid it.

Thanks

Actually, there is another board outside of BWW....

The show is very loud.  I vaguely recall flashes of fire.  There are sounds of explosion.  I don't startle easily, so I don't recall being startled by sounds or fire flashes - but I can't say that a sensitive person won't be affected.

Just saw this and it was a lot of fun!! The whole show is very, very loud so there is not much "jump scares" because everything is loud and there is always a lot going on.

The only "jump scare" for me was the very start of the show as there are actors on the stage and the show starts with one of the actors jumping and yelling out his first lines out of relative silence.

The question is moot as the US tour is "cancelled" or merely delayed for an extended period of time.

...and of chorus we know that the NYC City Center limited season is resurrected for 1August2019.  This BETTER not crash and burn.  I was set to offer tickets for my theatre group in San Fransissyco last December when the tour was still set, THEN the DC engagement for July this year was cancelled and I was bummed.  Now I'm set to travel from SF to NYC 19August for the 20August performance.  Please keep your fingers, toes, eyes and nose crossed for me.

Not to dwell on the topic, but I've read the script of the show & know that there are 3 instances with gunshot effects.

Does anyone know/recall if the effects were actual blanks being fired or if they were sound effects? (I usually find the blanks much more startling than sound effects.)
