A little surprised they left everyone in HEAD OVER HEELS featured. I just hope we don't end up with 4 Best Actress in a Musical nominees this year.

I was perplexed by that too, but after reconsideration, there isn't really anyone in the show I would call "leading", since it's truly an ensemble piece. Plus, featured actor/actress have expanded to 6 nominees in the past, so I could definitely see Rachel York and Bonnie Milligan entering that field, moreso the latter.

We might! There's not a ton of eligibility... Kelli O'Hara Samantha Barks Christiani Pitts Probably Sophia Ann Caruso for Beetlejuice, unless they consider her Featured The Chers, depending on how they rule The Prom actress/es depending on how they rule Mare Winningham, if GFTNC transfers
...anyone I'm missing? I feel like everyone else would be Featured.

If Company ends up coming in, you could add Rosalie Craig/Anne Hathaway/ whatever star they have lined up to this list. Stritch was nominated as a lead for Joanne, but I’d bet money they’d move Patti to featured where she’d not only easily win, but also not have to compete against her costar.
Not sure if anyone knows, but do we think that all 3 Chers will be eligible for leading? Not sure about time on stage time for the three, but Stephanie J Block seems like the best contender out of the three?
If Hadestown still transfers as planning, whoever ends up playing Eurydice will end up leading. Not a big enough role to be nominated, in most seasons, but eligible.

It’s on Broadway for the first time, and they didn’t say anything about it being put into the Revival category via the “Classics Rule,” so it will be considered new.
Which I think makes sense, even though this production is not a transfer of the original Off-Broadway production. Compared to the shows that fall under the “Classics Rule,” SWM is much newer, and hasn’t had much time to become part of the cannon.

I am sure they would try to split it the same way that 'Summer' did last season. They put the "eldest" one into leading and the others into featured and that worked out very well for them. So it will likely see SJB into leading and the other two into featured. A lock for SJB at this point and a pretty good chance for one of the others as well, but likely not both.

How are they billed? Above or below the title? That is the default. As I understand it, any change is subject to producer petition. I don't think the Committee can change actors between "leading" and "featured" on the Committee's own whim.

Correct. This is why Joel Grey does not have a Tony for Chicago.
“Correct. This is why Joel Grey does not have a Tony for Chicago."
It’s been twenty years, and I still can’t believe he didn’t get nominated for the Tony Award he would have won because (allegedly) some assistant failed to file the petition paperwork.
The Tony committee is not as crazy anymore though, and now frequently makes its own decisions regarding Leading or Featured regardless of whether or not a petition was filed.
