A Star Is Born on Broadway

Lloyd Webber wanted to do it.

Who would be good for it?

Osnes and McGillin?

Benanti and Karl?

Anyone other than Germanotta!  Oy what a bomb of a movie!

We don't disagree with you, you're just wrong.

I would cast Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

lol keep Lloyd Webber far away

the movie is far from a bomb

keep Gaga and Cooper and have them write a few more songs, it would be the smash of the season and they’d both win the Tony

Webber’s interest was adapting the 1954 (Garland/Mason) version.

Why not just do Funny Girl?  Same basic plot.

You can't have an opinion about box office. A bomb means it is low-rated and no one is going. The problem there is it is highly rated (96% rating from Top Critics on Rotten Tomatoes), has already earned $143M in worldwide box office, and both Gaga and Cooper are at #1 and #3 on the Billboard charts, respectively, based on their songs from the movie. So, the jury seems in on how the movie is being received.

Now, you can think she is awful in it, of course. You can think the movie sucks, by all means. But it is demonstrably not a bomb.

Subjectively, one can dislike this movie as much as they want, but using objective measures like box office and critical reception, this movie is a success.

ALRIGHT ALREADY!!!   I GOT IT.  YOU ALL DONT THINK IT’S A BOMB AND I DO.  OK!

So can we now talk about possible casting?  Or do you just wanna beat that horse til it’s deader than your continual refutes?

People will stop talking about it once you stop using the word "bomb" incorrectly. There are many successful films I personally dislike and have argued against its merits. But I would not call it a "bomb". That's something specific.

Not really. The word you are using means things you are not meaning: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Box-office_bomb

"Or do you just wanna beat that horse til it’s deader than your continual refutes?"

Similarly, one doesn't beat a DEAD horse, whereas you are beating a horse until it is dead. Which is also a different thing.

If Bradly Cooper's 2018 A Star is Born is adapted for Broadway, and the script and current musical structure is kept intact, but they add a few new songs to the script I've got to ask: Would it be considered a musical?

In my opinion it would be a play with music, as the musical numbers are all diagetic and don't so much advance the plot as they comment on it. It would have more in like with other plays with music Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill or End of the Rainbow. Although if the producers wanted they could label it a musical, as there both Once and A Night with Janis Joplin, fall into a similar vain.

Bro, no one is a bigger fan of Lady Miss Kier and Deee-Lite than I am and you are SO off the mark on this in every possible way.  Lady Gaga hasn’t emulated Lady Miss Kier in any way: their singing styles, their music and even their costumes in no way have any connection.  There’s a reason why this comparison has NEVER been made as there is NO comparison.   Only thing they share is that both ladies are from New York.   That’s it.

I knew you would respond in that way since that's like the go to response for fans of a pop diva when someone else brings up a previous artists. It doesn't matter if you haven't heard of her. Any pop artist who indulges in dance music would know who Deee-lite is,especially when they hit the market back when Gaga did, anybody who knows dance music anyway. I guarantee Lady Gaga knows who Deee-lite is.

As for Gaga not not emulating Lady Miss Kier is anyway, BrodyFosse123, you can have that opinion, but a lot of people noticed it if you look at comments online. Maybe they're wrong, but there were some costumes and looks Lady Miss Kier had in early 90s and later on (beyond the "Groove is in the Heart" video) that made me think of Gaga. Also, when Gaga was first coming out Rolling Stone and other publications mentioned Gaga and Deee-lite together.

Do you also disagree with Grace Jones when she said Lady Gaga copped her style as well?

I'm just a bit wary of people saying Gaga hasn't emulated other artists when it's pretty obvious to other people and her original stylists admitted they studied Madonna and even then her fans were denying it. I'm not saying she's untalented or anything and obviously everybody gets inspired by other people and Gaga is definitely talented. We also can't deny this movie is a hit at the box office and with the critics and she herself impressed people with her performance in this movie.

Of course I now who she is hence why I know Gaga has never copied her.

1) Gaga wore what her 'Haus' and other designers designed for her. I doubt she cared whose looks they borrowed from or even knew or cared beyond putting it on and getting a new headline that day.

2) I've never once heard Gaga claim she invented anything or that she was even remotely original in anyway. Yes her muppet fans did, but I've never heard it once come from her mouth. Yes she over hyped her music, but as far as her 'looks' went I have heard her say many times that this or that look was 'inspired' by this person always giving them credit.

3) I am not a stan, in fact I have really disliked her the last few years. She turned into a complete idiot and I think even she would acknowledge that. But she was always extremely talented as a singer and song writer and I am glad she is finally getting the acclaim for those things that she deserves.

I don't care what she wears, only superficial twats would.
