I wasn’t necessarily suggesting those people for the part, more equating their status as musical theatre stars in the US verses the UK where Rosalie Craig is equivalent.

The more I think about it, and this contradicts what I said earlier about getting an all American cast, The musical theater performer I think would be really great as Bobbie is Cynthia Erivo. What I disliked about Craig’s performance is that it was so slight; it was as if Bobby were the character of Charlotte in Sex in the City. I think Cynthia would give a more grounded take.

Saw this today and I thought it was a revelatory production. The show is fresh and current again. The staging and lighting is jaw-dropping and I found every scene to be a surprise. Not Getting Married was an award-worthy performance alone. Fantastic show!

The production closes in a week. I wonder if/when they'll announce a Broadway transfer. Which theatres are available for a fall transfer?

I was talking to someone this past week here in London who works at the Gielgud and asked about a transfer. He said not to quote him but the talk of a transfer has really died down and if it happens it might not be until 2020, but who knows.

I wonder why transfer talk has died down, it certainly did get to fever pitch levels at a certain point. My guess is with Marianne already so scheduled out for her next production they weren't really looking at a bigger picture for this concept beyond their first production. I wonder specially since it's a production she's doing thru Elliot Harper, which is admittedly a smaller production company than the producers of her other transfers.

I wonder if it's in part due to sales.....when the show was only a couple months old there was so much excitement: Amazing reviews, good sales, excellent word of mouth. But then as the hype died down a little then Sales did dip a little for a few months (and even now in the last week there is surprisingly A LOT of availability) - when they open the accounting books and show this it might seem like a bit of a hard sell without an a-list name (and Patti has 'threatened' in public interviews to not go with the production without the same cast, which I would take to mean especially Craig - creating further complications because it would be more tricky without LuPone, too). I mean, I still would be shocked if it doesn't make it eventually given the financial prospects seem higher than this for the countless Sondheim flop revivals of the past. But I am starting to get a little concerned..

Didn't they keep extending it? I think if it had closed back in December and not extended, it would have been sold out and be a hot ticket.

Craig has been off a bit this week and in general during the run she has missed a handful of performances, now mmmm.

She’s Patti LuPone. In a Sondheim revival. She could play a wet cardboard box and get name credit. She’s Patti LuPone.

Being billed above the title has to do with the performer, not the role.  That's how Dorothy Loudon (Annie) and Christine Ebersole (42nd Street) win Tonys for Leading while Tammy Grimes (Unsinkable Molly Brown) and Barbara Cook (The Music Man) win Tonys for Featured.  It was about their billing not the role.

Well, she has laryngitis (per her Twitter), so that explains it. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, considering she’s had only a few absences; she’s onstage the entire time. It isn’t a hard sing, but I could see how taxing a role it is.

Absolutely loved this production- Rosalie Craig is excellent- though I think Adrienne Warren will get the Olivier Awards- she was beyond amazing in a - perhaps- showier role as Tina. both performances A p[us. I got tickets for Company a few days before the performance date- at the box office- for a Saturday matinee- and scored great seats. The theater was packed. Not sure how this would do on BWAY. The sets are perfect as is- so all they would need to do is transport them. Could be a limited 16 week engagement and recoup if they choose.

Yes she's Patti LuPone but lets not pretend that means she can draw an audience like Hugh Jackman does. If that was the case, WAR PAINT and THE ANARCHIST would have been successes. She draws in theatre fans but that's about it as far as her name recognition goes.

Company really is a great show and production, but if it comes to NYC I do think, like in London, it should be a limited only production. Granted it's a v slow time of year for ticket sales in the west end, but sales have really died down the past couple of months.

As for whether the entire West End cast transfers too, that's a tricky one. Whilst I think Rosalie Craig is v good as Bobbie and deserving of the plaudits I don't think it's a role that other performers over here couldn't perform equally as well. Rosalie won't sell any tickets off of her name (which maybe is a concern to producers here), but then again it might not need to, especially if it's only a limited run. And I do think it would leave a bit of a bitter taste if they went with someone other than Rosalie for the lead. Patti is obviously against that given her history of the drama with ALW and Sunset Boulevard.

A problem with a limited run on Broadway could be the expense. The cast is quite large- the orchestra needs to be paid- there are several sets. Dramas seem to be able to recoup if they are hot tickets- and Hello, Bette also was hugely successful- and expensive to produce. Company would be cheaper to produce by far than Dolly- but all in all, a 16 week run might not be seen as a good bet for BWAY.
