I went in with low expectations and found it to be a decently entertaining (albeit predictable) western adventure set in the Star Wars universe. Alden Eihenreich and Donald Glover were servicable as Han and Lando, as was Woody Harrelson. Emilia Clark's chracter didn't make an impression on me for 90% of the film.
I think the real star of the film was actually Chewbacca, who pretty much stole every scene he was in; the scene where he and Han meet was easily the best in the movie.
I enjoyed a lot of the references to the old expanded universe, but was mixed on the end cameo by a certain ex-Sith lord. Having watched Star Wars Rebels, I knew who it was almost instantly and it's interesting how they seem to be setting up a direct sequel. I can't imagine they would end with such a cliffhanger unless they were planning on continuing the story.

If you're up on the current canon of Expanded Universe, you'll know that Darth Maul's primary enemy post-prequels is Obi-Wan Kenobi (who eventually defeats him on Tatooine). The rumors I've heard are that there won't be a Han Solo 2, but the upcoming spinoffs are going to focus on characters like Lando and Obi-Wan whose paths intersect less with the Skywalker saga and more with Maul's crime empire, which will fill the role the Empire/First Order plays as the recurring antagonist of the Skywalker saga.
Although if debuted at #1, it struggled at the box office this weekend. It has me wondering if they released this too soon. It’s been less than 6 months since The Last Jedi came out and I have to wonder if it would’ve done better if they released this coming December. I’ve kind of like the once a year model. With the main movies being released every other year and the side films being released in the off years. I haven’t seen it yet, but will this week! Can’t wait!!

Saw it this weekend and, while not the best movie out there, it was enjoyable. I thought the first hour was boring but it got better once the actual plot revved up. The robot got on my last nerve though. Ugh!
Is it perfect? No. But, I liked it a lot better than "Last Jedi."

I really enjoyed it for the most part. Not everything landed, the origins of Solo's last name was pretty groan worthy, but overall I thought it was fun. I really liked the action set pieces, the train heist and the M Falcon space battle.
Alden Ehenreich had really big shoes to fill. But I thought he was serviceable. Although to me he reminded me more of a young Jack Nicholson. Donald Glover was AMAZING and they need to make a Lando move right away. I also really liked his droid. I even shed a tear when she died, but I think that was due more to Glover's reaction.
