I'm confused-- THE SHAPE OF WATER would make an absolutely perfect Broadway musical. It's practically one now in its screen incarnation. Am I missing something here?

I do agree that the show has exactly the right tone to make a great musical. Wouldn't it be a problem, though, that both of the romantic leads are entirely silent? :)
I guess they could rectify half of the problem with some more fantasy musical sequences.
Kdogg, I had a similar thought about Jane Campion's THE PIANO, which I think could be exquisite onstage. My ultimate solution to the problem of a mute protagonist was to go the Deaf West route and have another (visible) actress serve as Ada/Elisa's "voice," whether during soliloquies or musical numbers.
Is this a joke? We did a whole twelve-episode web series right here on Broadway World - not sure they have it up anymore, but most of the episodes are on YouTube. I think if you google the show you may still find them on Broadway World. Someone mentions Taxi Driver - we did it. Euan Morton as Travis Bickle. Apparently B'way World has removed them, since they're now about five years old. I think I'll put the remaining episodes on YouTube. We did The Miracle Worker with Beth Leavel, The Exorcist with Hal Linden, The Shining with Adrian Zmed, Soylent Green with Gregory Harrison, Fatal Attraction with Andy and Alet Taylor, and many others.
