This.
Also, if you saw the show today and joined right after, I believe you saw someone else as Eliza.

this year,. most of the tony winners are easy to predict. this is one of them.
Not only do they owe her for last year, but her performance is easily the best part of the show. I'll guess that's something folks who loved TBV or hated TBV would agree on.

Was this just a fluke that she was out for one performance, or is it an extended break? I'm seeing it Wednesday night and she's probably what I'm looking forward to most. I already had to miss Tony Shalhoub... I'd be pretty bummed to miss her as well.
I thought this was referring to Lauren Ridloff. She’s got great reviews and is the clear alternative, but Glenda Jackson may be the biggest lock of all the acting races. As for Lauren Ambrose and Katrina Lenk, it’s a complete tossup.

I believe since the date tickets went on sale, Harry Hadden-Paton's minimal time off had been stated. If this was time off for Lauren, I'm sure it would've been stated. She was most likely feeling under the weather so here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

Thank you! And agreed - if she's been under the weather I hope she's feeling better!
Another thread stated she was having problems with her voice, so she's sick - if that's correct.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

No shade intended in this comment, but I do believe Lenk is the only actor in this category to have not missed a single performance (oh, and her show has also been open the longest; way longer than the others, actually, with the exception of Hailey Kilgore).

This is correct. Her understudy, Madison Micucci, has not gone on for Dina once. Lenk's stamina is incredible.
Again, I really wish Lenk and Ambrose could tie, but honestly, gun to my head, Lenk still takes it. She's just truly something else, even as unbelievable as Ambrose is.

Taylor Louderman hasn't missed a performance of Mean Girls at all - DC or Broadway.

My mistake! But all performance records aside, Lenk winning this category is a total no-brainer. As lovely as Ambrose is, Lenk is extraordinary in a way that can't properly be put into words. She will deservedly see her work recognized on June 10. (And she should've been nominated for Indecent last year, too.)
For anyone who's interested the video of Laura Benanti describing the 2017-2018 Musicals video was just posted and she definitely throws a little shade to MFL

She hasn’t.

I hesitate to ask this -- please don't jump all over me -- did anyone other than me think that Lauren Ambrose 'looked too old' for the part? She was excellent, as others have said, and I thought the re-consideration of the original worth the visit, and the music and staging was top notch. But I just had a teensy weensy bit of 'suspend reality' about the (apparent) age of the character. (Or maybe it was just that Higgins looked young????)

I agree with you, but I would never say it was absolutely wrong - I think it's more a preference thing. But she is wonderful in the role. And if they were considering Laura Benanti and Sierra Boggess (that's very alleged), they clearly weren't going for super young.
