Heard a rumor this was transferring to the Public this fall from London. Anyone know anything about this?

Oh I hope so. Had a friend in London just rave about it!

It would make sense given the working relationship they have with the Young Vic

Speaking of transfers from across the pond, I would not be surprised if Network with Bryan Cranston takes the Newman stage in the late summer/early fall

also, what is the status of the new Sondheim show that has been workshoped at The Public?

Possibly...I know its being quoted as "direct from the West End" when it plays in Toronto during February/March.

The show was at the Old Vic, though - and the Old and Young Vics haven't been affiliated for decades, IIRC.

I believe it's still supposed to happen, but they're waiting on Mr. Sondheim, who has said the writing process is going slowly. I have a friend who was in a show that was supposed to transfer to the Public next year, but they supposedly got pulled from the upcoming season line-up to make room for Sondheim's new show. So if that's true, hopefully we should be seeing it next year.

Oh that's interesting! I enjoyed the show but it would work better as a play. As a play the story is compelling. With the music shoehorned it's very typical jukeboxy (makes no sense) but it was worth it to hear Shirley Henderson sing "Like a Rolling Stone" and Sheila Atim's "Has Anybody Seen My Love".

Sad to see that none of the London cast is transferring. In particular I would have liked to see Ciaran Hinds and Shirley Henderson.

Does anyone know anything about the show? Is Kudisch’s part a leading role?

I saw it back in March in London and was a physical and emotional mess. One of the best pieces of theater I have seen in years. I just remember saying "I cannot wait for them to bring this to Broadway!" But I was hoping for Ms. Henderson and Sheila Atem....just stunning performances! I am sure the Public cast will be amazing. I am just thankful the show is making a New York Debut.

For those who asked...Stephen Bogardus will be playing the role Ciaran Hinds portrayed in London.

Jeannette Bayardelle is going to tear it up in her role, she has some amazing scenes!

Marc Kudisch is playing Mr. Burke, the father of a special needs teenager. It is a supporting role.

I wonder if they will be having the cast play some instruments? If so, Mr. Kudisch better get on them drums! Girl From The North Country - Public Theater?

So sad to have lost Caitlin Houlahan at Waitress but thrilled to be able to see her in this new project.

I was also hoping Shirley Anderson would reprise her role. She was the best part of the show when I saw it back in London. I'm sure Mare Winningham will bre great though.

Caitlin Houlahan's part is small, but she has a heartbreaking scene and song ("I want you"Girl From The North Country - Public Theater? with Colton Ryan.

Looking forward to this!

I'm wondering if it is going to transfer to Broadway after its run at the Public. It was supposed to play in Toronto in Feb/Mar but was cancelled due to "scheduling conflicts". If it does, I think it could be a contender for Best Musical.

Does the starting ticket price seem a bit steep to anyone else? Was thinking about making this part of my early November trip, but $95 is kinda pricey, no?

that is not far from standard Off-Broadway pricing these days for a musical. Especially one like this that is basically a guaranteed sell out

In 2013 Fun Home played the Public & similarly was set to close early November, but ended up extending into January. Perhaps they are just preparing for this possibility. I have space left in my scheduled late December trip, & wonder if I should leave an opening just on case?

I was fortunate to have seen Girl from the North Country last August while it was playing at the Old Vic after purchasing "day of" tickets for twelve pounds.  The performances were some of the best that I have seen in any theater.  I specifically made a return trip to London in January to see its West End transfer.  I assumed it would be making a NY transfer at some point, but did not expect the Public Theater.  I already purchased front row seats for its run at the Public.  It should most certainly make a direct transfer to Broadway.  Without a doubt, this show is a must see.  The transformation of Bob Dylan's songs to fit the Depression era setting is quite remarkable.  I am excited to see the new cast, but was equally as disappointed that Shirley Henderson and Sheila Atem would not be reprising their roles. They were unbelievably powerful in their roles.  This show will be the talk of the town in September.

I am completely obsessed with the cast recording.  It's so beautiful!

I'm sooo in doubt if I should by in advance or wait for try rush tickets, I'm specially torn if I will be able to get a ticket to Mother of the Maid or it will be an easy sell-out.
