There are still 5 or 6 decent seats available in Loge Center Row C, if you have $200 burning a hole in your pocket.

Hope that's not a bad omen for the future.

I’m going to make a concerted attempt to erase that thought from my psyche. Your timing is impeccable...

A bad omen for what? The show not selling out? It’s a subscription house. Someone probably exchanged their seats.

I was of course joking, but given that Sher's South Pacific ran for 996 performances while Sher's The King and I, despite equally glowing reviews, ran for 538, I will be very interested in the popularity of MFL.

I'm actually surprised that South Pacific had such a long run while The King and I had a shorter one considering that I always thought The King and I was much more known outside of theatre and that it was a more beloved show. I don't know WHY I thought that, it was just an impression I had.

Really anxious to see what the critics thought of this one. I write for BWW in Virginia and absolutely loved the production when we saw it in previews two weeks ago. We were both skeptical of Harry Hadden-Paton's age for the role, but were absolutely mesmerized by his performance. Even though I've seen him in The Crown and Downton Abbey, I forgot how young he actually was until we met him at the stage door. The entire production is top-notch, and we immediately wanted to see it again when it was over.

I predict the reviews will be glowing for this one.

I think the reviews will range from very positive to flat out raves. So excited to read them!

Matt Windman of amNewYork gives it 4 stars, calling Lauren Ambrose "a radiant Eliza."

Whoa, and he didn't seem to care for HHP at all.

I wouldn't say that as that was a positive review of HHP's performance. He wasn't enamored with HHP as he was with Ambrose and as noted in the review, HHP plays Higgins in a different way than the bullying Harrison way and I guess the reviewer preferred the older way. He did say HHP's interpretation of Higgins "works".

The Wrap isn't online yet, but this summary says it's going to be a rave.

"The great mystery at Lincoln Center is why Bartlett Sher's direction of vintage Broadway musicals at the Vivian Beaumont is so brilliant and his direction of warhorse operas at the Metropolitan Opera is so uninspired."

I saw that. Looks like it was originally online 9 hours ago, but it was removed. It also says "Lauren Ambrose would even wow George Bernard Shaw."

Variety is strong, not quite a rave.

Lol. Chris Jones mostly sounds salty about his ship not happening in this production.

Chris Jones always rubbed me the wrong way, not as much as Matthew Murray of TalkinBroadway did, but comes close.

He really wanted a garden-variety MFL. That review is sort of funny because this is the first Higgins/Eliza I wanted to see together at the end and goes on about how Freddy isn't right for Eliza. That review sounds like it belonged in one of the MFL threads arguing about the ending.
