HB Burger on 43rd between Broadway & 6th, two doors down from the larger Heartland Brewery, has the best veggie burger ever. Had the chance to enjoy one this past Saturday, Guy from NJ near me had tried one for the first time and loved it, too.

Their $1.95 sundaes in a shot glass are inspired. Cute and the perfect-size dessert, at an awesome price.

Thanks for the sushi recommendations. I truly miss Sushi Samba. I’ve never eaten anywhere like it (other than the London location; I believe they also have Amsterdam, Miami and maybe Las Vegas locations). It was my first place to eat each trip after my plane landed and I had checked into my hotel. Also, the first time I ate there, Daniel Radcliffe came in and ate three tables away from me. Apparently, needed pricey building repairs plus rent increases forced them to close. I’ve been coming to NYC long enough now that some of my favorite places have closed. I also miss E&E Grill House which was across from the Eugene O’Neill Theatre. It was a good place to get a tasty, solid meal before a show. I also have sentimental memories of it as the first time I ate there (with a fellow SRO winner - now friend - and her boyfriend- now husband) was after I won a SRO ticket to Book of Mormon in 2012 after standing in line for 6 hours in 40-degree weather. Mussels, grilled cheese and hot tomato fondue never tasted so good.

Ate at Luke’s Lobster in City Kitchen for lunch. Had the Lobster Roll and 1/2 Lobster Tail with the Lobster and Corn soup. It was all very good, but as others have said in various reviews it was a bit expensive - approximately $35 with a drink. Would I do it again? Yes, I think so. :)

If my family is with me, we usually go to Juniors even though it can be super busy at times.

When im with myself, I like to go go Wasabi (Sushi place) and eat on the way to the theatre. They are both super affordable.

Now I want to try that Lobster roll at Luke’s. Sounds super good.

I would offer Joe Allen’s on 46th Street.

It is a casual steakhouse with reasonable (by midtown standards) prices, and they are very attuned to working around curtains times. We have eaten there many times before shows, and after letting the waiter know our timing needs they have never failed to provide necessary service to accommodate.

As a nice bonus - the walls are decorated with theater posters / but only from shows that were bona-fide total flops. Many shows otherwise lost to the ages!

Had breakfast this morning before leaving NYC at Junior’s Restaurant and Bakery at the end of Shubert Alley. I was the first one in the door at 6:30am. Had two scrambled eggs with bacon and white toast (three full slices, cut diagonally in half, for six pieces), and home fries (all came as a package deal), with a side of grits and a large OJ (paid extra for both). It was very, very good, and way too much food. Total before tip was $25.48, a bit expensive for “breakfast”.

I ate there because it opened earlier than most all of the area pastry shops and other restaurants, and I wanted to be done with breakfast by 7:15am to get some final pictures before heading to Penn Station and the NJ Transit for the ride back to Newark.

As good as the breakfast was, and it was mighty tasty, I probably won’t eat there again (even for lunch or dinner), but will definitely drop by next time I’m in town for the cheesecake.

I’ve eaten there a couple times. Once for breakfast with friends (very good!) and once for supper (some monstrosity specialty that I wouldn’t order again). I seem to recall the prices being more reasonable than most of Times Square, not to mention Manhattan as a whole. I think I had the cheesecake once, but don’t recall being blown away. I did have a couple of hot chocolates with Bailey’s before. Those were yummy but it’s kinda hard to mess that up. Lol. I haven’t felt a need to return.

A year ago, my friend took me to a restaurant called Bourbon Street Bar and Grill on W. 46th - perfect for the theater crowd, with very reasonable prices. We always ask to sit upstairs, as the downstairs can get rather noisy with big crowds. Highly recommend!!!

If you're looking for breakfast near Times Square, you should definitely check out the Westway Diner on 9th between 43rd and 44th.  They have great specials before 10 and give quick service.  They cater to tourists and locals alike.  we live on 45th and go there at least once every weekend.  If you're also looking for good sushi near the theatre district, go to Kodama Sushi on 45th across from Kinky Boots.  The black rice sushi is delicious although it can get crowded before curtain.

I agree Westways is great.

Being in Hell’s Kitchen is it a bit cheaper than Times Square area? Also isn’t it a favourite  for theatre employees cast and backstage? As it’s out of the way of the tourists.

Yes, def.  You’d be surprised how much the prices change from 8th ave to 9th Ave.  All the stores, including Rite Aid and DR have higher prices than elsewhere.  Westway Diner has also be featured in numerous TV shows along with a number of other food places on 9th.

For the life of me I can’t figure out why Smackery’s is such a huge hit with tourists.  There is always a line especially after the shows get out and the cookies are pricey and just oK but the tourists go mad for them.

Walk just a few blocks West and there are tons of affordable restaurants on 8th and 9th ave. I avoid eating right in Times Square. Try TripAdvisor!

I agree with Westway. Been going there forever - food is always good (for breakfast) and inexpensive. I've also started going to Theater Row Diner on 42nd St, as it's close to the Pod Hotel Times Sq which is where I've been staying.

Osteria Al Doge across from the Hudson theatre was good! Boyfriend picked it out since he loves Italian. Im not too picky of an eater so I personally really enjoyed it. He's a picky eater, and still enjoyed it a lot! Highly recommend this before a show for dinner. Not a large beer list if you're a beer drinker however.
