Thought it was a particularly strong show- cold opening was weird tho- thought i'd got the time wrong and the show was already into the usual sketches. Sandler's bits were all pretty good- esp liked Romano's Tours. Nice to see so many alumni came back to play bits. The erectile dysfunction bit was both cringeworthy AND funny.
The Chris Farley song was finally an acknowledgement on the show as to how good and how funny the man was. Some people may have seen it as indulgent but I really feel it was a heart felt to a good friend.
SNL is a political show and always has been, but Im okay with them taking a break from Trump stuff. I doubt we will these final 2 weeks, but Im happy with the break. They just arent doing many truly funny things with Trump. Granted, none of it is really funny but they don't go too far with Baldwin and his character other than the obvious jokes. We need more in depth sketches with him being a spy or something mocking James Bond. Instead we get Baldwin repeating the same dumb **** that comes out of Trumps mouth, so I was thrilled for Celebrity Family Feud this week lol.
Best episode of the season in my opinion. Sandler seemed excited to be back, he brought a great energy, and Opera Man!!!!! Very excited for Emma Thompson as well this week.

I forgot Time Meadows was on SNL."

While scientists still argue whether sex pheromones actually exist, many believe that the smell of musk closely resembles that of testosterone, which may act as a pheromone in humans. Also, women’s sensitivity to musk is apparently 1,000 times greater than men’s so any sexual power that musk may boast will definitely be working in your favour.

I guess I learned something today. I have always thought of musky as smelling like a skunk.
I think if they keep bringing Baldwin in to do Trump they need to up the writing and rehearse a bit more. And De Niro should show up for rehearsal because he always seems out of the loop. He deserves more than looking lost half of the time.
Last night was a snooze. Can't believe that was their finale. "The View" skit was horrible. Even 'Weekend Update' was awful - you could see the jokes a mile away.
I didn't hate the episode. The View wasn't funny and felt rehashed, but overall it was a fun episode to end the season with. Ill always love my Kyle and Leslie sketches as well. Writing does need to improve, and Jost and Che need to go imo.

I like it when they do the segments where they write the most HORRIBLE and disgusting "news" stories for each other to read on the air, live. Because the audience knows the premise is to force each other to say something completely disdainful, I get a lot of enjoyment out of how successful they are; particularly Che's comments after he's forced Jost to say something disgustingly racist. Yup - it's really twisted and wrong, but the more pain they bring to each other, the harder I laugh.
In that same vein, I still (at least for now - I'm sure it will eventually get tiresome) enjoy watching Rudd in the Gay-baiting sketches that seem to occur every time he hosts (i.e., the older Vogelchecks sketches, and this Saturday's Jones/Mooney sketch). It's completely inappropriate, but I'm OK with watching Rudd kiss other men - for now. I don't find the setup funny at all; I just like watching Rudd passionately kiss other men, so who is the joke really on?

Agreed, those bits between them work I guess. As writers I just feel they aren't strong enough, especially with the debates and elections coming up that are only going to create more material for them. Its interesting though, we shall see who returns and who doesn't.

True dat. ...and it's not like what I enjoy couldn't be replicated by two other Weekend Update hosts. It is, after all, SNL's take on The Aristocrats joke.
Is there anyone people don't want back next season? I feel this cast is actually quite good and capable but aren't the strongest writers. Whether thats more a writing room issue than cast member issue we don't really know I guess, but still.
Jost and Che can go, as I said. Other than that, Im pretty happy with most of this cast and would gladly take 1 more season from most of if not all of them.
