Posted: 1/17/19 at 10:30amFWIW, I saw this last night (Wednesday 1/16) - and Laura was in. That said, the theater was at best 70-75% full. The last rows of the orchestra and much of the far sides were empty, I imagine the mezzanine was also fairly empty. Loved the show though.

Your friend at LCT is right on one account; the show is selling. Anyone who works for that organization, and has a functioning brain, would know that the notion of them bringing in a production of Mary Poppins, is too absurd to even discuss.

Saw this last night and Laura was in. Heather Botts was on as the Queen. I thought Laura and everyone else was fantastic. Laura, Henry, Danny and Christian all got applause when they first appeared and Laura looked like she was scanning the audience when she first came out on the turntable. It was cute.
I would be interested to see this again if Lauren Ambrose were to come back. I can understand some of the comments here about their different portrayals of Eliza. Anyway, this was a really gorgeous production overall. I was stunned by how deep the stage was and the Higgins home set was just stunning. Even if you're not a fan of this story, I'd say see this at least once for the sets and performances.

Anderson is absolutely wonderful and worth seeking out. I preferred her to Ambrose.

Kerstin Anderson is Eliza on Tuesdays (scheduled). If Benanti is still under the weather, Anderson may play Eliza in one of the two shows on Wednesdays/Saturdays.
I highly recommend Anderson. I've seen Ambrose, Anderson, Benanti. Anderson is the best among the three talented actresses, IMHO.

She still does, I picked one up Wednesday. I just walked into the stage door and there is someone in a booth who has them.

Both of tomorrow's performances look to be complete sell-outs with Laura. Mostly premium seats left. Roundabout has really embraced the premium seat concept.
Sunday also looks like a sell-out or very close to one. When do regular overpriced unsold premium seats revert to regular overpriced tickets?
Tuesday, completely different story. Laura's night out. Maybe half of orchestra tickets unsold, and only a third of the right side orchestra. But still lots of premium seats.
Wednesday a little better than Tuesday, but not by a lot.
Nothing better for me to do at 4:00 am than to check attendance for upcoming My Fair Lady.
What's the deal with all the discounting Roundabout is doing on the Kiss Me Kate previews? They haven't put together an attractive enough production to mostly fill the theater during previews?

I saw Laura last night and Kerstin about a week ago. I wouldn't say either is better than the other - I very much enjoyed them both. I thought Laura looked more comfortable in the role and was a little looser on stage (in a good way). I liked the way Kerstin did Eliza's accent in the first act better, especially when singing. I could go scene by scene and song by song and say Kerstin was better in this but Laura was better in that but the bottom line is I greatly enjoyed both of them and am happy I got two different performances.

I personally hope this information on Mary Poppins is correct because I think Sher would be the perfect director and the Beaumont is a great space for it.

I'm confused by your post... you do realize that My Fair Lady is produced by Lincoln Center and that Kiss Me Kate is produced by Roundabout, right?

Thanks. I wonder why that is? You might expect the audience for this classic to be older than normal, and maybe coming into the city for weekend matinees are the most comfortable for them.

Yes, I know that. How could I not when they're both always trying to hit me up for money. Sometimes they get me.
I just made a violent segue from My Fair Lady to Kiss Me, Kate because I saw another one of the Roundabout discount ads. Hey, it was 4:30 in the morning.
