Tinker Bell Comes To The Adventure Theatre MTC Stage 6/22

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), recent recipient of three 2017 Helen Hayes Award Nominations, brings to the stage the world premiere play, Tinker Bell, written by Washington, D.C. playwright Patrick Flynn and directed by Adventure Theatre MTC favorite, Nick Olcott (Three Little Birds, Knuffle Bunny). Based on the works of Sir J. M. Barrie, this exciting retelling of the classic Peter Pan story is recommended for all ages and opens June 24, 2018. Tickets are $19.50 each and can be purchased online at www.adventuretheatre-mtc.org or by calling 301-634-2270.

Everyone knows the story of Peter Pan. Or, at least, everyone thinks they do. But unless you have heard it from Tinker Bell directly, you really have not heard it at all. A new twinkling light shines on all the characters you love including, Wendy, the Lost Boys, Peter Pan, Smee, and the nefarious Hook from a feisty fairy's point of view.

Director Nick Olcott says of the production, "In many tellings of the Peter Pan story, Tinker Bell is reduced to a stereotype: the jealous, vengeful woman. Patrick Flynn, drawing on the original play and novel from which the story comes, finds a deeper, richer meaning. Tinker Bell has to struggle with a basic human conflict: What do you do when a friend makes you angry? Can you love someone and be furious with them at the same time? It's a question every family faces, and learning to deal with it is a huge part of growing up. What could be better than to wrestle with this question while you're laughing at the antics of an irrepressible sprite with a rapier-like wit?"

Artistic Director, Michael J. Bobbitt, agrees. "As a character, Tink is so delightfully flawed, and I think families who love Peter Pan will really enjoy this retelling of the classic tale. There's action, magic, adventure, swashbuckling, and classic characters. What more could D.C. area kids want this summer?"

Tinker Bell is recommended for all ages. Tickets are $19.50 each with Flexpass, group, and field trip rates available. The press performance will be Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 2pm. All performances will take place at Adventure Theatre MTC, 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD, 20812 in the historic Glen Echo Park.
