On September 12th, AIN’T TOO PROUD: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE TEMPTATIONS presented by Broadway Across Canada premiered at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver. Playing a total of 6 shows with the last being on Sunday September 17th, the touring production of AIN’T TOO PROUD brought the energy, passion, and nostalgia to audiences this week.

One of the latest K-Pop boy bands to return to the spotlight is the 7-member group, TRENDZ. Having debuted in January of last year, they are fairly new to the K-Pop scene and stepping into the industry more and more with each new release.

Joff Bush has played a pivotal role in the success of BLUEY by touching audiences through the music that encapsulates the stories of the show. With the driving force behind Bush’s creativity being his love for storytelling, the magic and passion felt in each episode is exceptional and unmatched.

The 4th generation of K-Pop artists are currently dominating the industry at the moment. Constantly thinking of new concepts and sounds, the artists of this generation are pushing the boundaries of the genre that keeps growing. One of the groups dominating the scene is 5 member South Korean boy band, CIX.

Last week, the North American tour of Disney’s ALADDIN gave its first knock-out performance in Vancouver! With its dazzling dance numbers supported by a plethora of special effects, the show did not hold back on any aspect from start to finish. The show played Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre from July 25th to July 20th.

Another great musical has stepped onto the Vancouver theatre stage this summer. Busting at the seams with energetic dance numbers, upbeat songs, and comedic moments, Theatre Under the Stars’ latest musical leaves audiences wanting more. MATILDA THE MUSICAL presented by Theatre Under the Stars will play at the Malkin Bowl until August 26th!

This year, Theatre Under the Stars will be playing 2 shows over the course of the summer, one of them being the Broadway musical, THE PROM. THE PROM opened on Tuesday July 11th and will play at Vancouver’s Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park until August 25th alternating nights with Theatre Under the Star’s other musical: MATILDA.

One of the newest artists that have made a mark in the K-Pop scene is the 6 member girl group: SECRET NUMBER. Composed of members: Léa, Dita, Jinny, Minji, Soodam, and Zuu, SECRET NUMBER was formed by Vine Entertainment and debuted in 2020 with the single album, “Who Dis?”

A decade of being a successful business is a goal that many companies and teams strive and dream of. Not only has Vancouver’s famous flying attraction accomplished this, it is also celebrating this feat in the most Canadian way possible: through giving back to others. On June 29th, FlyOver Canada celebrated 10 years of adventure in Vancouver.

At some point in their lives, most people have heard of the musical: CATS. Whether it’s because of its unique costumes or iconic songs, CATS will always be a Broadway classic. This week, Broadway Across Canada and Troika Entertainment brought the musical to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

This long weekend, the highly anticipated touring production, JURASSIC WORLD: LIVE, played from May 19th to 21st at Vancouver’s Pacific Coliseum. Filled with thrilling stunts, breathtaking scenery, and (most importantly) many dinosaurs from the Jurassic World franchise, the show was a perfect event for the entire family to enjoy. 

The South Korean K-Pop group, CRAVITY, will kick their 1st world tour: MASTERPIECE into full gear next month! Presented by Studio PAV in the USA, CRAVITY will visit a total of 5 cities in the US and the US territory of Puerto Rico on the American leg of the tour.

Korean-New Zealand singer, songwriter, and producer, MILKY DAY, is set to make big waves in the music industry in 2023. With over 500,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and over 47 million combined plays on his songs alone, he has made quite a name for himself already.

Filled to the brim with flashy dance numbers, classic Broadway tunes, and capped off with a heart fluttering love story, Royal City Musical Theatre's production of CRAZY FOR YOU satisfies all of your musical cravings.

UNEXPECTING, the fully-staged, female-led play will premiere at Vancouver’s Studio 16 this week. Presented by Zee Zee Theatre and written by Vancouver playwright, Bronwyn Carradine, the play will explore modern motherhood between queer partners.

Canadian short-form series, STREAMS FLOW FROM A RIVER, recently premiered this month on April 1st. The series unravels the internal conflicts of an immigrant Chinese Canadian family past and present. BroadwayWorld had the pleasure of speaking with Danielle Ayow and Liam Ma who played siblings Loretta and Henry Chow respectively in the series.

This month, musical artist KESHI, played a sold out show at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver, BC. Following his successful HELL/HEAVEN tour last year, KESHI returned to Vancouver once again, but this time at a bigger venue.

Last week, PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL began its run in Vancouver. Presented by Broadway Across Canada, the show played at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre from March 29th to April 2nd. With its beloved story, upbeat music, and enthusiastic cast, PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL made audiences fall in love again.

South Korean R&B Artist, GEMINI, began his first North American tour this month. With 8 shows in the US and 2 shows in Canada, GEMINI has promised his North American fans a hip hop/ R&B experience they will never forget!
